The Tragedy of The Chosen Ones

Alec, Jace, and Luke walk out of the meeting together and Alec is watching Eva skip in front of them with a worried expression on his face "I'd say, "Let us know what you find out", but you're not allowed to do that anymore, are you?" Jace says and Luke sighs and Eva stops skipping and turned to them "Sorry it had to be like this." Luke says and Eva sighs "I didn't want this to happen! We're meant to be working in a team not against each other!" Eva says sadly and Luke looks down at her sadly "I know kid... but the Queen she made you an exception for whatever reason, it could be good or bad but from what I've heard, your a very interesting little girl to her and she seems... worried to say the least about what could happen to you. I suppose as long as we catch Valentine it'll be okay." Luke said and they continue walking down the hall letting Luke's words sink in before he sighs "Well, as long as one side catches them, that's all that matters, right?" He says and Luke nods before he shakes Alec's hand and is about to leave when Clary runs into the hall "Luke, wait!" She calls out and Luke goes back to Clary. "Why are you doing this? You and I both know the Seelie Queen doesn't have your best interests at heart." Clary says and Luke smirks "To be honest, I don't think she has a heart. Look, I gotta think of my pack. Her court can protect us from anything that Valentine and his son can throw at us. The Institute can't." Luke says and Clary's nods before she gives Luke a hug "No matter what, don't let either of them leave the city." She says and Luke pulls back and looks at her in the eye "Me and my wolves will die trying." And that makes Eva gasp and pull on his jeans urgently "No Luke!, Please, don't." And he sighs and gets onto one knee in front of her and puts a hand on her shoulder "bad choice of words huh kid?" He says and she nods her head with her lip trembling "I won't let anyone get hurt! Not if I can prevent it! No more down worlders will die on my watch!" She says and Luke smiled at her "that's why we trust you with our lives." Luke says and the little girl quickly moves forward hugging him tightly and he almost gets knocked over before he hugs the little girl back before he pulls back and looks at the little girl "you need to think about something... while you would gladly give up your life for anyone, who would give up their life for you?" Luke says before he pats Eva's head and gets up to leave as Eva stands there thinking about what he said and so did Bob as Eva and Bob walk towards the Ops centre where Alec, Jace and Izzy are and they are reading about a supposed forsaken infestation at a near graveyard and Eva runs over to Alec and hugs his leg as he picks her up kissing her forehead "something you wanna tell me princess?" He says and Eva nervously shook her head "no Alec." She says quietly and he hums and looks at her with a raised eyebrow "are you sure? Because what was that with the Seelie Queen?" Alec asks and Eva shakes her head putting a smile on her face "nothing Alec... I just had to talk to her about something she said at the Seelie Court." Eva said and Alec looked at Bob who was looking down guilty at the floor and Alec sighed and held Eva close "I know your lying to me but I also know that it must be for a good reason so I won't keep asking you about it but princess... if you know something that might get someone hurt then you have to tell me okay?" Alec says and Eva gulps and nods her head "yes Alec." She says and he nods and kisses her head and researches more information about the alleged forsaken infestation.

That night Clary, Izzy, Jace, and Alec go to see about the forsaken attack and Eva and Bob tag along as well "Why would they hide in a graveyard?" Clary asked and Izzy shrugged her shoulders as they walked through the graveyard "They probably raided an old weapons cache." She says and Jace looks around for anything to show what happened "It doesn't explain what happened to everybody else here." Jace says to everyone and Alec notices something from what looks like a funeral "I don't think they left." He tells them and Izzy understands what he's saying and Eva just tries to keep close to her siblings with Bob in her backpack, she was in her elephant onesie again and had her hood up and the ears were flapping as she walked, it was one of the only things comforting her in this scary place, "Another demon trap." Izzy said and Alec nodded his "Let's split up. Teams of two. Eva don't leave my side." Alec says and Eva nods running over to hold onto the back of her brothers trousers and both Clary and Jace answer at the same time "I'll go with Izzy." Clary says as Jace says "I'll go with Alec." And everyone shares some looks and Eva decides to defuse the tension "well thank the Angel we worked that out quickly eh?" She says and Bob laughs a little and Alec cracks a smile as they split up and start running to different areas "Thank you for not asking any questions about Clary." Jace says to Alec after they've walked for a few minutes and Alec nods his head "I figure you'll talk when you're ready." He says and Jace smiles at him and Eva sees it "I knew there was a reason you were my parabatai." Jace says and Alec smiles over his shoulder before focussing back on the room they were walking through, the three siblings pause as they hear growling coming from behind a wooden door and Alec points to a desk "Eva hide under there now, don't move until I tell you." Alec instructs and Eva hides under the table as the door opens and a bunch of Forsaken people get out and Alec and Jace start fighting them. Behind Alec, a Forsaken crashes through the wood and grabs Alec and pulling him through the wall "Alec!" Both Eva and Jace call out and he calls back "Jace! Eva! It's okay!" He calls after a minute and before Jace can move he is grabbed by Jonathan who still looks like Sebastian and he puts a chain around Jace's neck "Jonathan! No!" Eva says and he looks at her "I'm sorry little ninja Hello, brother. Mind if I take you outside for a moment?" He says grinning at Jace as he pulls Jace up the stairs with the chain. "If you say a word I'll kill him Eva." Jonathan threatens and she whimpers and nods as she follows and watches as Jace is struggling. Jonathan drags Jace all the way to a bridge in the graveyard and Eva can see that Jace is choking "please Jonathan! Your hurting my brother!" She begs as she starts crying and Bob silently slips out her bag when Jonathan is distracted and he runs off as quickly as he can to find Alec. "He deserves it Eva... you don't know what your brothers really like... you don't deserve to be with a family that treats you like they do... You'll make an excellent trophy to present Father with." Jonathan says looking from Eva to Jace and then he throws the chain over one of the metal beams and pulls Jace up. Jace is now hanging a little above the bridge ground and Jonathan chuckles as Eva cries "JACE!" She cries as her eyes go white and Jonathan turns to her not realising that the chain around Jace's neck loosened slightly due to Eva allowing him to breathe "don't worry Eva, after I've dealt with Jace then I'll deal with Izzy and Alec and then Clary... she'll never love me as a brother but you can! You can be the little sister I've always wanted to have and I can be the only family you need, the family that will never abandon you no matter what." Jonathan says with a smile and Eva cries "this is bad Jonathan! I told you I could help you! But I can't help you if you hurt my family please let my Jace go, I can help you!" She says and Jonathan kneels in front of her and holds her arms tightly hurting her arms and she winces "don't worry Eva, you won't have to remember them I can help you forget them and we can go anywhere in the world and I'll get you anything you want, don't you want a brother that will do anything for you?" Jonathan said getting upset that his plan wasn't working out as he wanted "I'm just like you Eva, I know what it's like to be abandoned by your parents! if it came down to saving the world or saving you I would choose you! Do you really think that if your siblings had to save the world or save you that they wouldn't choose the world for the greater good?." Jonathan says and Eva freezes and her eyes go back to normal and it makes him smile and stand up "Lack of oxygen getting to your brain yet?" He asks Jace turning around and Jace smirks "He left you. He's probably not coming back." He says talking about Valentine and Jonathan's face turns to one of anger "My father is a man of his word." Jonathan says and Jace rolls his eyes as he looks at the other man "He made you spaghetti, too." Jace says and Jonathan shakes his head "He'll be back for me." Jonathan says and Eva realises that Jonathan must've been abandoned as a child and that might by why he feels some kind of connection to Eva "No." Jace says and Jonathan practically growls at Jace as Eva realises that she is crying again and she wipes her eyes and sniffles "He will." Jonathan says anger in his words and Jace knows he's riling up Jonathan "He abandoned you. Again. He came back for me, though. It kinda makes me the favorite son, doesn't it?" Jace says and it causes Jonathan go pull harder on the chain and it makes Eva gasp and she sees Jace struggle to breathe "If you are trying to goad me into a fight ...it is working!" Jonathan shouts releasing the chain from where he attached it to the bridge and Jace drops to the floor and Jonathan pulls out a sword and gives it to Jace and he then takes another blade for himself whilst Jace gets the chains off of him and gets up "Care to find out who's the best JC once and for all?" Jace challenges and Jonathan glared at him "It would be my absolute delight." Jonathan replies as they both got ready "Eva stay back." They both shout at the same time and Jace glared at Jonathan "don't you talk to my sister EVER again." Jace warns Jonathan as they start fighting "You know, my father taught me about a certain spot on a man's back where you can stab him through his spine and the heart at the same time. Would you mind awfully if I showed you?" Jonathan asked and Eva was finding it hard to breathe "please... stop!" She cries as she feels her head spin... something was wrong "You know, for a split second, when I found those journals, I actualy felt sorry for you." Jace says and Jonathan narrowed his eyes "I don't need your pity. I need your life." Jonathan says as they continue fighting and Jonathan stabs Jace in his lung and blood comes from his mouth "NOOO!" Eva screams and Jonathan pulls the blade out and pushes Jace to the ground and Eva grabs Jace's blade and points it at Jonathan as he stands on Jace's arm "Please... you can still stop this now... we can heal jace and I can help you... Please Jonathan don't kill my brother... I love him, if you cared about me or wanted me to join you, you wouldn't do this!" Eva cried and Jonathan ignored her and turned back to Jace after a minute of silence "I wonder... have you stopped blathering on because I just punctured your lung? Or maybe you've realized, here at the end... that I have always been better than you?" Jonathan asks putting his foot on Jace's wound and Jonathan wants to go in to stab jace one last time, but then his sword is pulled back by Izzy's whip and Eva turns and sobs in relief "Stay away from him, you son of a bitch." Izzy says and Eva runs behind her sister as Izzy quickly looks her over, Izzy comes at Jonathan and her whip is whipping against the metal of the bridge "Well, I suppose this won't be a fair fight, then, will it?" Jonathan says and Izzy scoffs "You didn't seem to have a problem when you took a run at my baby sister." Izzy says and she whips her whip and causes a wound below Jonathan's eye "I trusted you when I was at my weakest, at my lowest. I brought you into my life, into my family, and you betrayed me." Izzy says hurt and she whips again, Sebastian grabs onto the ends of the whip, burning his hands but pulling Izzy in and Eva knows she has to do something "I saved your life. That should be worth something." Jonathan says and Izzy glares at Jonathan "That's why I'm giving you a more honorable death than you deserve." Izzy says and Eva gasps and covers her ears and she sees Jonathan mouth at her 'don't watch' so she closes her eyes as well and doesn't open them until she feels herself being picked up by someone and she sees Jace and she hugs him around his neck tightly "that was so scary... I thought you were dead! You can't die! I can't lose you Jace!" Eva sobbed and Jace shushed her and rubbed her back "hey don't worry I'll always be here for you bub." Jace says kissing her head as Alec and Clary run up, Alec carrying an exhausted Bob in his arms "he told us what happened, we came as quickly as we could." Alec said and the tired elephant tooted out his trunk tiredly and Eva held a hand out for Bob and she quickly held Bob to her chest and sobbed into Jace's shoulder and Alec looked at her confused "she's just been through a lot in the last ten minutes, Jonathan stabbed me through the lung and Eva thought I was dead and Jonathan was trying to manipulate her mentally and I could see it was affecting her what he was saying." Jace said and Eva just tried to snuggle closer to her brother and he held her closer and kissed her head as she was whimpering and crying on his shoulder, and the others decided to head back to the institute and Alec wanted to get Eva to bed before midnight if he could.
