"Okay. I've kept quite all the elevator ride up. What the hell do you mean that the man walking you back was Min Yoongi!?"
You raised your eyebrow at Huang and he sheepishly bowed his head in apology. You let it go.
The fact was that you were still processing the whole thing.
You met Min Yoongi.
Not only did you meet him, but he had been extremely close to you, close enough that you could smell his cologne -Invictus, you knew- and then he walked you back to your office and implied that he wanted to see you again.
All that despite the fact that you had blabbered on like an idiot and made a complete fool of yourself by basically running away from him.
But it couldn't be. There was no way. First of all you were a foreigner, second you were definitely not up to the Korean beauty standards - you would never be able to fit in any clothes made in Korea - you were not stick thin, you had big boobs and a big butt, you weren't overweight, but you weren't thin. You just knew no one here would ever like you. The asshole hadn't been wrong about that.
"Noona, please, you're starting to freak me out," Huang tapped the desk, to get you out of your trance, "you have been staring at your coffee for the past five minutes. I can't stand it anymore."
You shook your head. "Mianhe, Huang-ssi" clearing your throat you took a sip of coffee, hoping to clear your head. "I don't even know what happened. One second I was talking to myself and the next, he was right there, correcting my Korean and asking to walk me back. So fucking weird."
"Language."
"Yes, dad," you rolled your eyes, "he even asked if I go get my coffee at the same time every day, so that maybe we can meet again. How fucking weird is that!?"
Huang winced but let it slide. "YL/N, Y/N, it sounds to me like you have achieved what every Army wants in this world." You looked at him with a big question mark on your face. "Don't be dense. The infamous Agust D seems to have taken a fancy on you. That is a good thing, noona, you deserve happiness."
You actually laughed out loud. "Right, because he likes me and wants a future with me. Be real, Huang-ssi, there's no way that could ever happen. He's way out of my league and I'm waaaay below his standards. I mean, come on, he's a damn idol, a BTS member, and I'm just a simple, ug-"
"Stop. Don't you dare. If you say the word ugly, I'm going to be forced to make you look in the mirror all day until you realize how pretty you are." His face held all the seriousness in the world. "You're not only pretty but you are also smart, kind, lovable and you can out drink most of the manufacturing department. That night at the goncha was a fluke in your system."
That made you laugh again. "Thank you. It really means the world to me that you think like that, but be careful, someone might think it's you who likes me and not him." You tried to joke to diffuse the tension.
Huang blushed and averted your gaze which you found odd.
"Y/N-ssi..." he began. You panicked inside. If Huang was about to confess anything remotely romantic to you, then the entire year would be uncomfortable as fuck. You swallowed your coffee and waited.
"I need to be honest. I had a big crush on you from the moment you took your first trip here. It was a head over heels type of situation, I think that's why your drunken confession hit me so hard. I just couldn't believe someone could treat you like that when you were so precious, but that also helped me realize that my puppy love had grown into something more."
'Oh no, oh God no, please don't let him say that he's in love with me. Please, no.'
"I really do love you. As a friend. A brother, a protector. Please, don't find my words or my sentiment offensive. I just felt the need to clarify the situation."
For a few seconds that felt eternal, there was silence between the both of you.
"Huang-ssi...thank you. Thank you for loving me like that, I love you as my brother, too. I've felt that way for a long time, but I didn't know if I would be trespassing on any cultural thing or if you would be comfortable with it. God, I mean, I keep wanting to hug you every morning when you come pick me up and I know that's a big no no." You chuckled.
"You can hug me anytime you want, noona. It will take me some time to get used to it, but I'd like that. Just know that you really are lovable and deserve all the good things this world can give you."
His big smile made you get up and hug him. At first he was stiff but then he awkwardly patted your back a few times.
"You're gonna take over the role of the overbearing big brother even if you're younger, aren't you?"
"You bet I am. And I'm starting by coming with you to get coffee every morning, just so I can keep an eye on that Yoongi character." He made a serious face and you both bursted out laughing.
