Yoongi's POV
The moment his phone vibrated he knew it was you. He knew you were watching him and that you heard what he said. He was low key proud of his response to that stupid reporter.
Even after all these years they were still trying to put them down and attack them, but they were over it and they were done turning the other cheek. No one was allowed to dictate whether or not they could be in relationships, they were human and they earned it.
Once the conference ended, they marched out and went to change before they had to go to KBS.
“Hyung,” Jimin began, almost timidly, “I've never seen you act as cool as you just did. I have to admit I was nervous and sort of expected you to lose your shit, but the way you handled it…it was beautiful.”
He began undressing and changed into jeans and an oversized tee, before clapping Jimin on the back. Jimin had always been his protégé of sorts and so far, he had been the one who had kept his opinions and thoughts to himself regarding y/n, except for when he went up to Si-Hyuk's office with the rest.
“Are you riding with me, Jiminah?” Yoongi asked.
“Uhm, sure. I'm almost done. Meet you in the car.”
Yoongi was one of the first to be ready to go, along with Seokjin, so they headed down to the parking garage and to their respective cars.
“I thought we were going to ride together, Yoongi-ya,” he asked as they rode the elevator. Not with malice nor as a complaint, Jin was merely curious.
“Hmm. I did too. But I have a feeling that Jiminah has something he has to say and is not doing it. I don't like it when things between us are weird.” Yoongi shoved his hands in his pockets.
“I know what you mean and I have noticed something weird in Jiminah as well. I think it's good that you talk it out. I'll ride with Monah and Hoba will ride with the other maknaes.”
Yoongi nodded and went to take his seat in the car and only then did he check your texts.
His heart did a flip when he saw the hashtag on your text, his face broke into a grin with an excitement he couldn't explain. He was wrapped around your finger and he loved it.
The car door slid open and Jimin got in, he caught sight of Yoongi's smile.
“Are you texting Y/N-ssi?” He asked as he buckled up and ruffled his own hair, effectively messing up the side part.
“No, just reading some texts she sent during the press conference. I haven't talked to her since we said goodbye this morning.”
“Mmm.” Jimin said and looked out the window as the car pulled out of the garage.
“Jiminah…I'm just going to bluntly ask,” Yoongi exclaimed, “Do you not want me to date Y/N? You haven't really said anything since I first told you and well…you haven't confirmed if you're coming over for lunch tomorrow.”
“It's not that, hyung, it's just…” he fidgeted and picked at a stray thread on his sweats.
“Just say it.”
“We've always been close. But we drifted apart before your enlistment…I didn't even know what Adora did to you until Kookie told us on the day you told us about Y/N…” he wasn't looking at Yoongi, almost embarrassed to do so, “After the initial shock…I guess I was just hurt that you didn't tell me?”
Yoongi didn't know what to say. He hadn't been himself after what happened with Adora, and in all honesty, if anyone was expected to know what was happening was Jimin, but he hadn't told him anything.
