Yoongi's POV
The words, 'why don't you eat breakfast?' and 'well, maybe you can merge your break with lunch and you can have them with me tomorrow?', but most importantly 'No, wait!' All died in the back of his throat when you bowed and bolted from his presence as if you were allergic to him.
A mixture of shock and frustration welled up in his belly as he saw you speed walk through the glass doors, his chance missed, again. But then those feelings were replaced with slight anger as he saw a man glaring at him, the same man who held you by the waist and to whom you spoke so casually to that first day he saw you.
Who was he to you? Why was he always so close? Yoongi couldn't understand why it upset him so much. He stood there, holding that guy's look until he looked away and you never turned back, not even once.
Yoongi walked back to Hybe, faster than usual, and went straight to Jin's studio. He didn't even bother to knock, which wasn't like him, he just barged in and flopped himself on the couch, groaning as he covered his face with his arm.
"You're lucky I was only playing Maple Story, Yoongi-ya, if you had messed up a recording I would've been pissed." Jin turned around on his chair and kicked Yoongi's shin, softly. But the way he looked took the elder by surprise.
"Ya! What's wrong," he nudged his knee and pulled on his sleeve to try and pull his arm down. "Come on, Yoongi-ya, let hyung help you."
"I missed my chance, again," he blurted out, "not only that, but that guy was waiting for her again, and he looked furious that she was with someone. She ran away from me like I had the plague or something and didn't look back at me at all. Ah, shibal! See? That's why I stay away from girls who are not in the industry, because I can't tell if they-"
"Woah! Slow down, Yoongi," Jin interrupted him. It was the first time in ages that he had seen him so agitated and it was the first time he had seen him so worked up about a girl in a very long time. "I take it you met your mystery coffee girl at last and that you actually grew some balls and talked to her?" Jin grinned.
"Fuck you, hyung." Yoongi sat up and rested his forearms on his knees. "Yes, I met her. Her name is Y/N, and I swear, her voice could melt ice. She's so hot, hyung." He shifted uncomfortably on the couch, stood up and began pacing, "I think she's smart. She told me she works for that company a few buildings down, logistics, she's not from the U.S. originally but she's a citizen and doesn't eat breakfast? Damn it, Jinnie, I'm fucking thirty years old and I feel like a horny teenager. I don't even know her and she has messed up my head!"
Jin stood up and went to a small fridge by his desk, he pulled out a bottle and poured two glasses of whisky, he sat back down and motioned Yoongi to sit on the couch while handing him one of the glasses. "You need to breathe. Okay, so her name is y/n and you believe she's smart," he took a sip of his drink. "Not American by birth and she doesn't eat."
"I didn't say that. I said she doesn't eat breakfast, she fired a whole lot of information too fast for me to grasp what she was saying. Her Korean isn't that good and my English still needs some polishing." Yoongi drank half his glass of whisky in one gulp, "she's also older than me," Jin raised a perfectly sculptured eyebrow, "she asked me to call her noona," another grunt, "does that mean she doesn't see me as a man?"
"I think you're reading too much into this. I think maybe she was nervous. In all honesty, her spitting out random shit sounds a lot like how you're behaving right now. Why did you wait until today to talk to her?"
The rapper didn't dare look his hyung in the eye, he was about to admit what a coward he was. "Because…Okay. After that first day, I didn't go back to the cafe for two days, then on Thursday, I was followed by two photographers, so I didn't go inside. She was there, but I didn't want those fuckers to know I visited that place, so Seoyun and I just kept walking and went to the CU down the street." He downed his drink and only then, did he look at Jin, his eyes asking for a refill.
Jin nodded and complied, filling the glasses again.
"I was followed by Dispatch all weekend and then on Monday, I was there when she came in for her coffee, but those two saesangs who've been harassing Tae came in right after her. I hid in the bathroom," he shook his head, "I didn't want them to see me. I freaked out."
"Hey, there's no shame in that. If you think about it, you were also protecting her. Imagine if they thought, even remotely, that there was something going on between you two? She'd never know peace."
His words made sense and Yoongi agreed. He wouldn't risk her getting scared by obsessed fans even before he got the chance to get to know her. "That's when I made it look like I was going to Japan to record part of the album. Which reminds me," his focus changed for a bit, "did Bang PD figure out who leaked the flight details."
"He has an idea and has narrowed it down to three people, it's only a matter of time now. But carry on, what made you talk to her today?"
"I just really needed to, hyung. I don't know what's wrong with me…I'm really attracted to her." He sighed.
"And is that a bad thing?"
"It is if she's dating that guy that keeps popping up every time I see her, even worse if she only sees me as an idol." He downed his second glass and again, asked for a refill.
Jin shook his head. "No. No more. We have a recording session in two hours and more alcohol will make your voice rough. Look, I think it's good that you like someone. What do you say if we both go get coffee tomorrow? I can be your wing man. I'll get you a date, who can say no to this handsome face?"
Yoongi snorted, "you really are full of yourself. Okay, but we have to be careful, I don't want anyone following us." His eyes were pleading.
"Don't worry. The maknaes are doing that variety show tomorrow, Armys will flock to KBS and we will be free."
