A/N: HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Y/N's POV
You ran straight to the elevators and up to your office. As promised, your bag was on your desk, Huang was nothing if not thorough. You didn't wait and went straight to the bathroom to change.
It was mechanical and automatic, menial tasks like this one were the ones that kept you sane, they kept your brain from going into overdrive and kickstart your flight instinct. Once you were dressed you put on a little mascara and eyeliner and went to your office.
As your computer booted on, you allowed yourself two minutes to think.
There was someone at Hybe who was leaking information on the members and now, it was affecting you. You were going to have security now, knowing that someone would be following you around and that they would know your routine was unsettling, but in the back of your mind you knew it was necessary. It was just something you needed to process.
Yoongi had lied to you...okay, not lied, but he had hidden things from you. This was the thing that was eating you up. He did it to spare you worries and stress and that was maybe why you weren't angry at him, but you really hated lies. You didn't know how to process stuff like that.
That was the thing about trauma. While you could heal and move on, there would always be triggers and insecurities right under the surface, waiting to pounce on you. And while your healing process was way underway, you were nowhere completely okay.
Huang came in holding your coffee and he closed the door. He knew that you were going to talk about what happened and it was sensitive information.
"Y/N...," he noticed the frown on your face and the distant look you always had when you were doubting something, "I don't know what you're thinking, but it doesn't look good. Come out of your head and talk to me." He sat down and waited for you to talk. Not pressing you nor pitying you, he was honestly concerned.
He pushed the coffee mug closer to you and you took it and drank.
"He lied to me. What the news said was true. He threatened to leave the group and nearly got in a fist fight with Namjoon. Had Seokjin-ssi and Jungkook-ssi not held them back, they would've punched each other... I asked him and he said harsh words had been exchanged and that he had made sure they knew he'd pick me. But he never explained what really happened." You took another sip of coffee and then finally looked Huang in the eye, your own were shining with unshed tears.
"It's okay to cry if you feel overwhelmed, Y/N. It's natural." Huang had scooted forward on his chair and took your hand in his, "but I have to say this: it doesn't sound to me like he lied. It sounds like he gave you the version of the truth that would hurt you less. He was trying to protect you."
"But I don't need protection. I need to be able to trust him!" You protested, "This affects me too."
"Cut him some slack, noona, this is his first time dating someone who's not in the same industry as him and I'm certain that after what you told him about the asshole, his entire goal is for you to never feel pain again." He saw your breath hitch and he arched an eyebrow at you, letting you know he knew you knew he was right.
You hated he knew you so well and that he was now full on Yoongi's cheering team.
"I thought you hated him being wholesome?"
"I do. It makes it hard to hate him. But he's doing all of this for you, that alone gives him props in my book. Also... the security situation. Have you considered the fact that if you're seen constantly being accompanied by Yoongi's manager, you'll raise suspicions?"
You sighed and leaned back on your chair for a few seconds, "I hate that you make sense...he truly is a good man, isn't he?" He nodded, "That is the exact thought that has been going through my head since Yoongi said he wants Seojun to be in charge of my team. He trusts him the most and that in turn makes me trust him. I don't think I could deal with just anyone driving me or knowing my routines and where I live, Yoongi knows that, but I think in his wanting to protect me, he forgets that anything related to him and his members is too easily recognizable."
