Yoongi's POV
"Hyung," Yoongi huffed as he ripped his mask off and landed on his chair in his studio, "I mean this with all the respect in the world, but you are such an idiot!"
He groaned as Jin laughed his ass off.
"How could you do that to me!? She's gonna think I'm some sort of useless idiot who can't even ask her out for a meal without help! You could've ruined everything!"
Jin was finding the whole situation incredibly amusing. "Ya! You should be thanking me. I did tell you that I would get you a date, I also told you no one can resist my handsome face." He winked.
"Ha…funny. She truly did seem enthralled by you." Yoongi slumped.
"Yoongi-ya, come on, she was probably just surprised at meeting another BTS member. She is mad cute, though, but I'm not the one who's eating with her tonight, am I? I'm not the one who has her number… Speaking of which, you nearly ruined everything. You were two seconds away from punching Huang-ssi."
His stomach did a weird churn. Yes, he had wanted to punch that guy. He didn't like how possessive he had acted. Truth be told, he still wasn't entirely relaxed at how he acted towards you. He was too familiar. "I'm still not sure if not punching him was the right thing to do."
"Yoongi…Don't. Okay, yes, I was shocked too and a little upset at how he…I don't know, pulled her to him. But I think he was trying to size you up. If they truly have a sibling-like relationship, then he was just messing with her. I have a feeling that they're like that, and if you want to pursue…whatever this is, you're gonna have to deal with it."
"I don't know if I'll be able to. I've never been a jealous person…but damn it, Jinnie, I wanted to rip his hand away. What the fuck is wrong with me?"
"You, my friend, have a deep ass infatuation with y/n-ssi. I can see why. From our little interaction, she seems to be fun and smart and like I said, she's cute," Yoongi shot him a glare, Jin continued without a care in the world, "more than cute actually, she's gorgeous and damn…that top showcased two big, interesting assets."
"Hyung!" Yoongi stood up, ready to smack him, but Jin was faster and was already heading for the Genius Lab door, cackling.
"I didn't get to see it, but I bet her ass is cute too!" He closed the door just as a stress ball flew at his head.
–
You nursed your espresso until it was cold and still drank it in one shot. You skipped lunch. There was just no way you could eat while knowing you had a meal set up with Yoongi. It was surreal…and you were freaking out. You needed Lena.
A quick mental calculation told you that it was eight p.m. back in San Francisco. It was a decent hour to call her, so you wasted no time and dialed her up. Lena picked up on the third ring.
"Babe!!! To what do I owe the pleasure of you taking time out of your busy ass schedule to call little old me? Don't tell me you miss me so bad that you're risking your job to talk to me?"
Her bubbly laugh warmed you up and made you smile. Lena had always had your back and supported you through every single hardship and dumb decision you made in the years that you had known her. She was even the one who came and picked you up after the fall out with your ex, cleaned up your wounds, and kept you safe.
You knew she felt guilty, having been the one who introduced him to you, but she didn't have to. It was all on you.
"I have a date tonight." You blurted out. You didn't know what else to say or do. All you knew was that you needed Lena. "I have a date tonight, and I am two seconds away from a panic attack, literally. Help me."
A constant wooshing sound was ringing in your ears, and your palms were sweating. Your vision was beginning to blur.
"A date?" Lena said in a detached voice. "Okay, babe, breathe, you're gonna hyperventilate, and I am nowhere near you to hold you tight."
You nodded, even though she couldn't see you, and you began taking as deep as you could breaths. Lena could hear you and was talking you through it until you finally calmed down enough that you could talk back.
"You really need to cut down on caffeine. It doesn't help with your anxiety, and you know it. I will kick Huang's butt when I see him next."
The fact that she mentioned coffee was ironic at best. "Actually," you began, "Huang and coffee are sort of the reasons why I have a date tonight."
"Shit, y/n! Don't tell me you're going on a date with Huang? I mean, he's a fine specimen, but it will fire back on you, and you know it!" The level of indignation she was showing was scary.
"No! No, it's not with Huang. Although he did confess, he used to have a crush on me, but that's a story for another day. Listen, what I'm about to tell you is beyond confidential, top secret, classified. Lena, you could get me in a lot of trouble if you let this out. Do you understand?"
"Jesus, y/n…who!?"
"Yoongi. I have a date with Min Yoongi."
Silence. Not a sound followed your words, pulling the phone away from your face to see if the love hadn't disconnected. You saw the timer still going. "Lena?"
"I'm sorry…I'm confused. I…isn't that one of the guys in BTS? I know you can't be lying because you were seriously upset a few minutes ago. I'm in shock okay…just…explain yourself. "
Taking a deep breath, you told her everything, from that first day at the coffee shop to the embarrassing moments Huang made you go through, Jin being a wingman and finally, Yoongi asking for your number. When you finished speaking, you felt surprisingly calm and excited at the same time.
Lena squealed like a pig and screamed in your ear. That got a laugh out of you.
"Babe! This is like a k-drama origin story! I'm so happy for you, oh my God!" You could picture her trying to settle down. "Okay, okay, first of all, I think you need to go into this being cautious but not closed off. I mean, things could evolve into something else, or this could end up being just the one dinner that no one will ever believe happened. I can see you telling the story in a nursing home when you're eighty."
"Fuck you, Lena!" You said while you both laughed. She had a point though, you couldn't go there pretending to end up being Min Yoongi's girlfriend, he probably just wanted an outlet for his stress and dinner could give him that. Or…he truly liked you. Either way, you had to think as clearly as you could.
After a good forty minutes of talking to your best friend, you felt better and slightly more confident. You decided to focus on work because no matter what was going to happen, you had to be professional.
