I woke up to the sound of footsteps.
"Hmm?" I mumbled, opening my eyes and seeing Harry and Hermione walk into the Hospital Wing.
"What the bloody hell happened?" I mumbled.
"We'll tell you later," Hermione whispered as she darted to bed and tucked a strange necklace in her robes.
Just as Harry and Hermione tucked themselves in, Madam Pomfrey came into the room.
"Did I hear the Headmaster leaving?" she asked. "Am I allowed to look after my patients now? Ah— Miss Black! You're awake!"
She jogged over to me and immediacy began removing bandages. She'd placed a spoonful of something awful down my throat and began to press a cloth dipped in a foil smelling solution against my skin. I cried in air painfully and looked at her angrily. I wasn't angry at her, it just hurt.
"You're going to have a nasty scar there," Madam Pomfrey said, pursing her lips as she changed my bandages. "I promise I'll do everything I can to prevent it, but that wound is very deep—I'm quite surprised you didn't die, Miss Black."
She then got to dressing my side wound, and 'tsked' so many times I lost count.
"That'll be another scar, I suppose?" I asked.
"Yes," She said, sounding a bit annoyed. "I think I can prevent the ones off your arm and hands, if you're lucky. Merlin knows how you're still alive."
"I wouldn't have died," I said icily. "I'd be nice to see if my friends are okay now—"
Mama a Pomfrey smacked my forehead with a towel. "You will NOT Miss Black! If you do not listen to me I'll throw a sleeping draught down your throat."
"You wouldn't," I said fiercely.
"Believe me I would!" She said. "If it'll stop you from doing something so utterly stupid!"
I growled, and Hermione let out a nervous laugh.
"You're as stubborn as your father," she said, smiling slightly. "I remember once, he broke three ribs during a Quidditch Match and absolutely refused to spend the night!"
I grinned slightly.
I was as stubborn as my dad.
Then I frowned, because making me think of my Dad made me think about Peter Pettigrew getting away.
There was a roar of fury, sounding like it had come from above us.
"What was that?" Madam Pomfrey said in alarm.
They were angry voices now, growing loudly and louder.
"Really— they'll wake everyone up!" She cried. "What do they think they're doing?"
Whoever was yelling was coming closer, because I could now make out what they were saying.
"He must've disapparated, Severus. We should've left someone in the room with him. When he gets out—"
"HE DIDN'T DISAPPARATE!" Snape roared. "YOU CAN'T APPARATE OR DISAPPARATE WITHIN THE CASTLE. THIS— HAS— TO— DO— WITH— POTTER!"
"Severus, be reasonable, Harry has been locked up—"
The door of the Hospital Wing flew open. In came Snape, Dumbledore, and Cornelius Fudge. Fudge looks angry, but nowhere near as furious as Snape. Dumbledore looked as calm as ever.
"OUT WITH IT POTTER!" Snape snarled. "WHAT DID YOU DO?"
"Professor Snape!" Madam Pomfrey shrieked. "Control yourself!"
"See here, Snape, be reasonable," Fudge said. "The door has been locked, we just saw—"
"YOU HELPED HIM ESCAPE, I KNOW IT!" Snape bellowed, pointing at Harry, then at Hermione, then Isa, and finally me.
"Giselle Black weren't even conscious when we left the room!" Fudge cried. "They're more maimed than any of them, do you really think—"
"THEN IT WAS POTTER—"
"Calm down man!" Fudge barked. "You're talking nonsense!"
"YOU DONT KNOW POTTER! HE DID IT! I KNOW HE DID—"
"That will do, Severus," Dumbledore said serenely. "Think about what you're saying. The door has been locked since I left the ward ten minutes ago. Magma Pomfrey, have these students left their beds?"
"Of course not!" Madma Pomfrey trilled. "I'd have seen them!"
"There you have it, Severus," Dumbledore said. "Unless you're suggesting that Harry and Hermione are able to be in two places at once, I see I don't see any point in troubling them further."
Snape was breathing so heavily I was afraid he might strangle someone.
"Fellow seems quite unbalanced," Fudge said quietly. "I'd watch out if I were you, Dumbledore."
"Oh, he's not unbalanced, just suffered from severe disappointment," Dumbledore said softly.
He and Fudge then continued to speak as they left the room. Madam Pomfrey then finished dressing my bandages, and left for her office, instructing us all to sleep.
Ron and Isa woke up shortly afterward, and Harry and Hermione then began telling a magnificent story about how they used Hermione's bloody time Turner and then went back in time to save Buckbeak and Sirius. I was disappointed to learn that they hadn't been able to stop Pettigrew from escaping, but proud and thankful that they had saved my father from the Dementor's kiss.
The last day the trio was released, which left the Hospital Wing to me and Isa to study for our exams. Madam Pomfrey initially declined our plea to have our friends come and study with us, but eventually let Katie, the twins, Lee, and Alicia hold a study session with us. Of course we told them all about what happened.
They were amazed.
"You turned INTO an animagi?" Lee asked, gawking at me. "That's awesome!"
"You both could've died!" Katie shrieked.
"Well we didn't!" Isa said happily.
The twins smiled at this, and after a few hours of studying, Madam Pomfrey released us from the Hospital Wing.
Everything was going to be alright.
I was excited for the adventures ahead of me at Hogwarts, and the friends and people I would meet.
But what I didn't know was what trouble I would run into, and who I would fall for.
Or who I had been hopelessly in love with from the start.
