Cassie sat with her legs crossed on the cement ground. Stiles and Theo watched her from just a few feet away anxiously. Stiles being more anxious than Theo.
Cassie tried to concentrate on drawing the energy from Eichen House. The mountain ash, the supernatural creatures that were inside it. Her breaths were even, and her eyes were closed.
She felt a hand on her shoulder which kept distracting her from her concentration. She huffed in irritation.
"Okay, whoever's touching me needs to get their hands off," she said, not bothering to open her eyes to see who it was.
"Um, Cass, neither of us are touching you," Stiles replied.
She opened her eyes, furrowing her brows. She saw that the two guys were in front of her, nowhere even near her. She looked behind her, trying to catch who was touching her shoulder. But when she did, no one was there, and the feeling went away.
Now she was even more confused. She swore she had felt someone's hand on her shoulder. And while she was feeling it, she could feel that person's energy go into her. Like they were transferring it to her.
"Cass?"
Stiles' voice seemed to snap her back into reality. She looked back at them.
"Never mind," she spoke softly before closing her eyes again.
She took a deep breath as she used the ghostly energy to her advantage as well as the other energy she had collected all over in Eichen.
"Per Virtutem Malefica Sanguinis, Invenio et Collocant Lydia Martin," she chanted under her breath over and over again.
As she recited the spell over and over again, she felt a cold gust of wind brush up against her back. The whole place shook, dust crumbling off the walls, as if an earthquake were happening at that very moment.
She felt the shaking when she opened her eyes. But instead of her usual ice blue eyes, they were pitch black. Dark purple veins, soon fading to the color black, trailed up her arms to her neck, turning her normal, but unnoticeable, veins that color.
"Is that supposed to happen?" Theo muttered, leaning over to Stiles.
"I have no idea."
Her breath was getting shorter and uneven. Her nose started to bleed as if the spell was too much for her.
Stiles felt even more concerned for her when he saw her nose bleeding. He almost went over to her to stop her from doing the spell but was pulled back by Theo.
"Wait, the spell's working," Theo said.
"How would you know?"
"I was there for her when she got her powers. Even though I didn't really do anything to help, I can still tell whenever something she's doing is working," he replied.
Just as he was about to respond, he was interrupted by Cassie taking a large intake of air. He looked over to her and saw her gasping her air as blood dripped from her nose to the ground. He shrugged Theo off him and rushed over to her.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," he said, wiping her nose with the sleeve of his flannel, not caring if it got dirty.
"The spell worked. I know where she is," she said in between breaths.
In that moment, even though it was a huge deal, she didn't even care about the fact that she got her powers back. A small part of her felt relief that her mother's sacrifice wasn't in vain, and the fact that she was a witch again. But in that moment, most of the relief she felt was that she had found Lydia and knew exactly how to get to her.
