Cassie and Allison sat back inside the office as the ones with the super strength helped barricade the windows and doors and Lydia and Quinn tried to get service from outside.
Cassie let out a deep sigh as she watched all the commotion from the mob. Everyone had guns. People that were once her neighbors were standing before the station ready to storm in. It was all so... disappointing to her.
"After all we did to try to protect them, they still try to kill us," Cassie mumbled, looking and shifting away from the window.
Allison sighed as well and went to sit next to her on the window ledge.
"Some of them, if not most, are just angry that their loved ones ended up getting the consequence of what they think are our actions," the huntress replied softly.
"But a lot of them are just scared and are discriminating," she said in a drained voice.
Allison sighed again. She couldn't argue with that. "Hey, what happened to you? You were missing for almost a week."
"Oh, the usual. Kidnapped, tortured. No biggie."
"Tortured?" Allison said a bit too loudly before Cassie shushed her to lower her tone. "Why didn't you tell anyone?"
Cassie shrugged nonchalantly. "It's already been taken care of."
"Oh. You..."
"Yep."
Allison nodded, getting what she was saying. She didn't judge of course and just leaned back against the wall.
"It's crazy how far you've gone with your powers," she spoke again. "From newbie, to human, to skilled witch."
Cassie chuckled softly. "Yeah, I guess if you think of it like that. Hey, did I tell you I died twice?"
Allison widened her eyes. "No way."
The witch chuckled again and nodded. "Yes way. It just... wasn't as heroic as the first time."
Allison chuckled herself, shaking her head. "Hey, I never did thank you for saving me."
"Don't start, Alli. It's enough that you're still alive even after all of this. You don't have to thank me."
The brunette smiled softly when she heard Cassie call her 'Alli.' It had been so long since she's heard that from her. And god, it felt good to hear her call her that again.
"I'm being serious. My father told me a summary of what you went through after you got resurrected, and if you had let me die instead, you wouldn't have gone through all that."
"Alli, don't. You were my best friend, and you still are. Would you have let me die if the roles were reversed?" Allison stayed silent. "Exactly. And what happened was a good thing. My powers are finally evolving and you're still alive. I'd say that's a win-win. Besides, at the end of the day, we all have trauma, so really, this is nothing compared to what we've been through."
Allison laughed at her comforting yet humorous words. She felt tears swelling in her eyes as she smiled warmly.
"I really am glad that you're alive. You have no idea how relieved I was when my father told me. I missed you so, so much. And losing you... losing you was like losing my sister. And I don't want to deal with that type of pain again. I don't think I'd be able to handle it this time."
Cassie smiled softly at her words and began to tear up herself. "I missed you too, Alli. And I'm so sorry for making you think I was dead all this time. Honestly, the pack hasn't been the same without you, and I'm really glad that you're back."
