Walking into Victors Village felt like home, Cecelia, Isla and Nash weren't expecting her back so soon, but Bex had never seen them happier to see her.
Isla practically tackled her in a hug the second she walked through the gates
Cecelia insisted that they were all going to have dinner together, and that was exactly what they did. She even dragged Woof out of his house. Woof was a strange one, Bex couldn't read him at all.
They had the dinner at Nash's house, it was what she needed, it was what they all needed. Deep in her gut Bex knew something was coming but having dinner with the people that mattered to her, made her forget all of that.
Woof looked happier than usual, he was an old man, loosing his hearing, problems with almost every limb in his body but Bex wouldn't change him. When he was out and he was talking to them he was something special.
He told them all about the times before the Hunger Games, they all knew they were safe inside the house. No one could hear them but each other and they would rather die than rat each other out.
Woof told them all about the very first District Twelve Victor, Lucy Gray and the first District Eight Victor, Delila. How from just even watching their games he knew there was something special about them, that Lucy-Gray was going to cause a spark and how he believed that spark was only just setting alight now.
That was the first time in months that they group had all sat with each other. Normally it was Woof on his own. Cecelia with her family. And Nash, Isla and Bex together in Bex's house. They didn't feel uncomfortable with each other, not one bit.
Being at home just made everything better. She even got sleep that night, maybe that was just because she was home, in a familiar place, with Isla sleeping on the couch in the room and Nash was on the other end of her bed.
They had all quickly realised that sleeping alone just ordered the nightmares but sleeping in the same room. She would fight the nightmares off for them and they would fight the nightmares off for her.
Sometimes Bex just thought Nash didn't need to sleep in her room but he did just to make her feel better.

Sitting at her windowsill the next morning, watching the people of her District going about, she felt like she could breathe again. That everything would be okay.
She quickly got dressed and walked down the stairs where Nash was laying on the couch, "You have a house you know?"
"Yeah a very empty, lonely house. What are your plans for the day?" Nash asked, sitting up with a cup of coffee in his hands, "Isla has gone down to the market, did you know she's got a thing for Aiden the meat man's son?"
Bex snorted, "I did know that yes, don't tell her that."
Some people may have found it strange that Nash practically lived in her house. But Bex totally understood why he didn't want to be in his own. Just like her, he had spent his whole life living with his family and because of the Games that was all stripped away. So when he became a Victor he had to live alone.
Nash was her best friend and she was his, nothing would ever happen between them. Bex knew how Nash thought, how he would act to certain things. The pair knew how to fight together.
So if it came to it, they would survive together.
"Well I am going to go and talk to Cecelia. I need some advice." Bex said as she took his coffee cup, drank some of it before giving it back to him, she wasn't one for coffee but she wasn't in the mood to make any food and needed some energy
Nash leaned on the sofa, "Can I help with anything?"
"Lady things." Bex called as she walked towards the door, "Wash that cup up when you're done."
Cecelia's house wasn't far from Bex's and it didn't take that long to be there, she knew that at this time her kids would be out of the house so it would just be the pair of them.
Bex knocked on her door and after a second Cecelia opened, "Have I forgotten we planned something?"
Bex chuckled and shook her head, "No. I uh...I need to ask you something?" This conversation, Bex would much rather be having with Johanna, she might know more than what Cecelia knew but Cecelia was just as good
Cecelia motioned her inside, shutting the door behind her, "How can I help you? If it is cleaning your house I will say no."
Bex walked into the living room and sat down on the couch, "I met with Snow my last day in the Capitol, just as I was leaving." Cecelia quickly sat down on the couch with her, a look of concern all over her face, "I'm fine. But he was saying how I should stay away from Finnick. Is that weird or am I thinking into it?"
Cecelia nodded, "Snow wants your eyes solely on the ring. No distractions, no friends outside of your District. It's his way of controlling you. He's threatened by your friendships with the Mentors. He always has been. He's just never been too bothered with letting you know."
Cecelia was the one person who Bex had told about what she did in the Capitol, Cecelia was Bex's mentor, the pair already got on pretty well but the first time she had to do it. The second she got home she went straight to Cecelia, shaking.
She didn't even have to say anything, Cecelia understood. She hated it, she said so in very violent ranting but she knew that there was nothing anyone could do about it.
Cecelia and Woof had picked her up from the ground when she was nothing but a shell of who she used to be.
"Finnick probably has clients and recurring clients because he doesn't keep his...job hidden as much as you do. You're on the same playing field but you're playing two very different games here. He's not embarrassed by it."
Bex nodded, she knew that Finnick was just staying in line, just so he wouldn't get his friends or family killed. Bex never let anyone know voluntarily that that was what she did. She wanted the least amount of people to know.
"Sometimes I wish I could take the deal from you, so you wouldn't have to do this." Cecelia said as she wrapped her arm around Bex
Bex leaned towards her and rested her head on her shoulder, "I wouldn't let you. You have a family, three kids."
"Five." Bex looked up at Cecelia, "You and Nash. Woof is like the annoying, recluse older brother. Then Isla's your kid."
