The day before the parade. Bex hated them. She just hoped that Danai wasn't going to do anything stupid. The four District Eight people were sitting on the couch, "Danai will love this place. When's she getting here?" Cecelia asked
The Living Quarters were redecorated, they were different. Bex couldn't tell if she liked it or not, "The Tribute Parade is tomorrow so she'll be here then, waking us all up no doubt."
"We need to talk about this years Tributes. They're all experienced killers, its better for us to know them before they take the first chance they get to threaten you two tomorrow." Cecelia told them
Bex sighed and sat back in her chair, "You might not have been here for a while but I have. I know the vast majority of them. I'm not...I can't not right now. I can't talk about killing my friends."
Cashmere, Gloss, Finnick, Johanna, Mags, Chaff, Blight. All of them she had known for years. Cecelia and Woof may not have major connections in the Capitol anymore but she and Nash did.
Bex stood up from the table and walked into her room, she didn't even want to think about killing the people she genuinely cared about. The people who for a few weeks every year turned into her family.
Nash sighed as he watched her go, "I get her point. Chaff and Blight are in there. I don't think I would be able to kill them. Just like she won't be able to kill Fisherman and Johanna...or Mags." Nash thought back to the Isla's games when he saw Cashmere and Gloss around her, "I don't think she'll be able to kill a lot of them. Bex will jump at the chance to kill Enobaria and Brutus though."
Some of them had been with Bex since she was fifteen...then there was Finnick. The time she had with him in Eight felt different. She felt good. She missed it. She missed how tight he held her when they slept in the same bed.
She wanted to feel that way again. But she couldn't.
