Happily sitting at the food table with a plate of food, Bex was watching the photographers swarming the drunk Capitol Elite.
For the first time during the whole trip, she was alone. Which was just what she needed. She needed the time to think. During the party she had seen Plutarch walking around, which put her on edge.
He walked around like every step was a calculated move and every step probably was. They locked eyes a few time but Bex did not want to talk to him. She didn't want him roping her into anything else, she didn't need him putting stupid thoughts about rebellion into her head.
"You look thrilled to be here."
Bex genuinely smiled when she saw Sejanus walking towards her and when he sat down in front of her, "I am now. How's Lissa?"
Sejanus nodded, "She's okay. Staying in Two. It's safer. Kind of. Who are you with today?"
"No one. I just got invited. It's gonna happen though, it's one of those parties."
Sejanus whistled, "Trust me I know, does Snow have someone for you?" Bex knew what he meant, would Snow force her into something else, she just nodded, she could assume that Snow had someone lined up and waiting, "Well, you know I'm always open to you. Just give me the signal and we can go back to mine."
Bex slightly smiled, she loved Sejanus, she did. But ever since that night that Snow took his mother, she hadn't been able to step foot in his apartment other than the time she had confronted him.
She knew he was sorry. She knew he had no choice. But her brain still wouldn't let her forget it, it was the worst experience in the ring she had ever had.
Before she could say anything an Avox walked towards her and handed Bex a note, "Thank you."
The Avox walked away, they weren't normally acknowledged. Bex opened the note. She knew the handwriting the second she saw it.
