"How could she possibly do that!" Hallie screamed, anger raging violently within her. The girl took angry strides across the room, slamming a stack of books furiously against the desk. "She had absolutely no right! It was not her house nor was it her stuff!"
Hallie slammed her fist against the wall in vexation, letting hot, sultry tears slip down her cheeks. Her home was completely gone. Now only a distant memory; an insignificant lapse of her past. The photographs framed inside the photo books were now ashes, slept away by the endless surges of the waves in the sea. The former memories that had built Hallie's childhood, had left with the selling of the house. Her house.
The house that was built up on love and intimacy had fallen, leaving only a deceitful destruction in its wake.
Hallie felt her legs eventually give in to the affliction, despair grasping at every barren crevice of her mind. Anger seethed behind the blue of her eye, as she balled her fist within the palm of her hand.
Sirius observed the girl helplessly, watching as the tears continued to stream down her cheeks. Sirius had promised himself from the very day he had fallen for Hallie Brennan, that he would do anything in his capacity to protect her, shrouding her light from the emanating darkness of the world.
But by only 17 years old, she had already experienced far more than he could have ever protected her from. From then on, he promised himself that he would help her fight against each and every battle thrown her way.
Only he knew that this battle had already been won.
"How could she?" Hallie whispered, not even glancing up when Sirius knelt down before the girl. "I knew she would do it to me...but to Dad? She knew that house was one of Dads favourite places in the world." Hallie glanced up, letting Sirius push the stray tears from her cheeks. "Why would she do that Sirius!"
"I don't know love," Sirius mumbled, pulling the girl instantly into the safety of his arms. "You don't deserve any of this shit. Monty and Mia will find a way to make things right." He ran his fingers gently through her waves of blonde hair. "They always do."
Hallie sighed, wiping her eyes tiredly. "I think it's far too late to fix things. Marie's already figured out how to make my life a living hell without having to even see me."
"I promise you'll never have to hear from her again," Sirius conceited, standing up from the ground, still with the girl in his arms. He was quick to lay her down on the bed, tucking the girl carefully under the duvet. "I'll protect you trouble," Sirius replied earnestly, placing a tender kiss upon the veela's lips. "Next time she does anything to spite you, I'll make sure her ugly, botox face gets ruined. Then she'll have to spend another couple hundred galleons getting it fixed," he mumbled to himself.
Hallie smiled softly, snuggling further into the warmth of the duvet. Not long after, Sirius joined Hallie, once again pulling the girl into the safety of his arms.
"Try to sleep love."
Hallie grinned, snuggling closer to the older boy, feeling at complete for the first and only time that day.
'Maybe things would turn out alright in the end after all.'

Hallie woke up the following morning, surprised by how rested she felt.
A small smile crept onto Hallie's lips, noticing Sirius' arm was still intentionally thrown across her body, as he snuggled into the girl for warmth. Hallie could feel the soft intakes of his breath grazing the back of her neck as he slept - small snores escaping his parted lips.
Hallie felt a surge of undeniable happiness, as she lay cuddled into his chest. Not only had he made her forget all about the day before, but she had also slept for an entire night, without a single nightmare disrupting her sleep. Hallie was almost certain that Sirius' presence alone was enough to ward off the bad dreams.
