"Ahh Mr Black, Miss Brennan, so glad you have finally decided to join us," Slughorn announced, as the two teenagers waltzed into the classroom; very reluctantly and very very late.
School had begun once again, almost as soon as it had ended. Hallie's week spent with the Potter's and Sirius had flown by, leading to the teenagers beginning their last full term of school before graduating. And that thought scared Hallie in more ways than one.
Hallie looked over, noticing each of the boys were wearing vivant smirks rested against their lips - James winking suggestively at the pair, who had arrived fashionably late to their very first lesson back.
"Missed you too darling," Hallie spoke offhandedly to Slughorn, sitting down rather ungracefully beside Marlene. Hallie looked up, noticing a coy smile was slowly overtaking Marlene's features. "What could possibly be amusing on a Monday morning Marls?"
"Oh I don't know my darling blonde twin," Marlene smiled, resting her chin eagerly against her hands. "Either, you both happened to sleep in today or you've been off snogging in a broom cupboard," she said, leaning forward teasingly. "I'm guessing from the state of your hair, the second option."
Hallie rolled her eyes, quickly running her hands through her hair. "We weren't snogging."
"Oh yeah?" Marlene grinned, looking past Hallie's shoulder towards Sirius. "Say that to the pink lip gloss around his lips."
Hallie turned around, catching Sirius' gaze from across the room. He smiled brightly towards the girl, which Hallie couldn't help but grin at the cuteness of his shiny pink lips. She brought a hand up to her own lips, gesturing for him to do the same. Once he finally realised what the girl was hinting at, he laughed softly, reluctantly rubbing the gloss from around his mouth.
Once Hallie turned back around, she was met with Marlene's eyebrows raised in question, giving the girl an 'I told you so' look.
"He was trying out my lip glosses this morning," Hallie mumbled, looking away from the smirking blonde from beside her.
"I didn't know trying on lip glosses meant mouth to mouth."
"You're making it sound like I was giving the guy CPR."
"He probably needs it, with the amount his heart stops when he's around you."
"Is that supposed to be a compliment? That I kill people inside every time they look at me?"
"Miss Brennan, Miss McKinnon," came the authoritarian tone of Slughorn, as he came and stood determinedly in front of the girls' desk. "Would you care to explain why your conversation is much more important than what we are discussing."
Marlene glanced towards Hallie wearily. "To be honest sir," Hallie muttered, yawning tiredly in the process. "I haven't a clue about what you're waffling on about."
"Maybe if you listened, rather than paying attention to Miss McKinnon, then you would know," Slughorn added, eyes narrowing towards the pair.
"I was listening actually."
"What were we discussing then?" Hallie looked up at the man wearily. "Please inform us."
Hallie looked around nervously, immediately catching Remus' eye from across the table. He began mouthing the answer to the girl, yet Hallie could not distinguish a single word he was saying.
"Veritaserum," James mumbled, immediately followed with a dramatic cough, as he attempted to help the girl.
"Veritaserum sir," Hallie spoke confidently, earning a small eruption of laughter around the room.
