"Professor!" Hallie demanded, storming into Dumbledore's office in anger. She quickly made her way to the desk, throwing herself down onto the chair. "With all due respect to you sir," Hallie spoke quickly, throwing her hands out in front of her, whilst Dumbledore watched the frantic girl in amusement. "Why couldn't you have just told me the password! I have just been standing outside of your office for the past 10 minutes, trying to guess your favourite sweet!"
"Well what's the fun in that," Dumbledore spoke calmly, sitting carefully back in his chair. "I did think you'd be more observant Miss Brennan. After all, you walked past the pot of Lemon sherbet on your way out of my office the last time you visited."
"I was too busy trying to carry that book on veelas. Why it needs over 800 pages, I do not know."
"Did you complete the summer reading Miss Brennan?" Dumbledore questioned, raising his eyebrows at the girl expectantly.
"Errrr...yeah?" Hallie spoke hesitantly, looking to see if the professor bought her lie.
"So no then," Dumbledore smiled, getting himself up from his desk once more. He gestured for Hallie to follow him across the office, towards a golden cabinet in the far corner.
"To be quite honest Professor, I did think the reading was optional," Hallie said with a shrug, following diligently behind the wizard. He stopped to tap on the cabinet carefully, causing the doors to open on their own accord.
From the centre appeared a shallow bowl-like basin, made of an ornate stone and carved with ancient lettering. The appearance of the memories floating within it looked ethereal, with its silvery, mist-like substance and the ever changing fluidity of the memories.
"A pensive. Classy," Hallie observed, taking in the ancient object with a keen interest.
"Classy indeed," Dumbledore approved, closing his eyes momentarily. "Now, the memory I would like to show you Miss Brennan, is one of most importance. However, bare in mind that it is also important for you to recognise that this type of treatment towards veelas is extremely outdated."
Hallie waited for Dumbledore's nod of approval, before sinking her head into the pensive and letting the memories swarm to her head.
Hallie felt herself being transported through the pensieve, until she finally opened her eyes, subtly taking in her surroundings. She had landed amidst the rolling hills of the countryside, surrounded by a sea of golden wheat fields.
In the far corner, stood a large, ornate-looking farmhouse, made of rustic wooden beams that had weathered considerably from the teeming rain. The roof was adorned with moss and lichen, exuding an old-worldly charm that made the building seem considerably older.
Directly across from it stood two men, dressed in stereotypical agricultural attire. They began walking towards where Hallie was standing, talking to each other in hushed, angered voices.
"You promised you would pay me 30 galleons Magnus," the first man spoke furiously, striding quickly alongside the second man.
"That was until I realised the full extent of our deal Albert," Magnus replied indignantly, storming away from the other man. "You told them about our deal. That was never the plan. I have a reputation to uphold Albert! I can't just risk it all because of this!"
"Think of what this woman will give you Magnus. Think about all the possibilities!" Albert argued, moving to stand indignantly in front of Magnus. "You'll have your very own veela - won't have to fight Terry for his one anymore, eh?" Albert looked back unconvinced, before continuing to walk away in the opposite direction.
"C'mon Magnus, I know you," Albert coaxed, placing an eager hand on the mans shoulder. "That veela i've got locked up in my shed will give you a bloody good time! You should see the way she dances Mags, gorgeous I'm telling ya. Plus kissing a veelas good luck, ain't it? After I kissed that half breed in the shed, I sold her sister for 40 galleons to Robert. There perfect creatures to have in yer home."
