The next morning, Hallie woke up to the indiscreet sounds of hushed whispers surrounding her. Even without opening up her eyes, Hallie could sense the presence of several looming shadows over her figure, unintentionally breathing down her neck.
"Where are his hands?" came the first voice, which Hallie could almost immediately distinguish as Marlene's. "I don't see his hands!"
Hallie soon realised that she was cuddled up against the chest of Sirius, who had his hands securely wrapped around the girl's waist.
Sirius.
Her boyfriend.
A small smile made its way onto her lips, thankfully out of view of the hovering shadows, who she assumed were pressed behind the back of the sofa.
"Right guys I'm actually stressing," came the clamorous voice of Marlene once more. "I need to see where his hands are!"
"Marls," came a sudden softer tone, realising that the second looming shadow belonged to James Potter. "Padfoot is a gentleman. He wouldn't do that."
Marlene scoffed in response. "We are talking about the same person right?"
Hallie tensed as she felt Sirius' hand slowly slip up the back of her shirt, running his hands delicately across the nakedness of her skin. From the perfection of the timing, Hallie could tell he had been awake for some time also. He knew just how to tip Marlene over the edge.
The group huddled behind the sofa had evidently seen the hand appear from beneath the girl, to then disappearing up the back of her shirt.
It was followed by several groans, including a dramatic cry from James. "I can't keep defending him Moony! I really can't!"
Hallie felt the presence of someone standing behind her, who grabbed her immediately by the waist and dragged her off of the sofa. "Get your hands away from my best friend you manwhore!" came Marlene's aggravated tone, as she pulled the girl tightly against her chest.
Hallie peeled her eyes open, to be met with an incredibly irate blonde girl, who was glaring daggers towards the boy on the sofa. "Hallie!" she cried, holding the girl's face between her hands, as though inspecting for damages. "That dickhead didn't hurt you, did he?"
"Fuck off McKinnon," Sirius grumbled, pulling himself from the sofa with a groan. "Why would I intentionally hurt my girlfriend?"
"Because you're..." the blonde began, before hesitating, looking towards Hallie with a confused expression. "Girlfriend?"
Hallie glanced towards the others, noticing the entirety of their group was huddled around the sofa, confusion etched onto each of their features.
"Uhhh surprise?" Hallie smiled weakly, still too tired to be listening to the cheering that followed.
"Well I was not expecting that," Mary muttered, before grinning broadly, pulling the blonde into a jittery hug. "Although this is so cute! We are all wondering when this would happen."
"This is exciting," Remus smiled, trying to sound enthused - even though each sound the group made forced him to jolt unmistakably, ready for the full moon commencing that evening.
"Moony, you knew I was asking her," Sirius replied, yawning tiredly. He caught Hallie's eye, winking discreetly.
"Yes, but I didn't think she would actually say yes," Remus muttered, looking towards Sirius who was scowling in displeasure. "No offence."
"I would say that was rude, but to be honest I couldn't quite believe it either," Sirius mumbled, resting back against the sofa with a vivacious smirk rested against his lips. "I did a pretty good job, if I do say so myself."
