Alexander's POV

After all our morning classes, Shaun and I headed to the cafeteria knowing we'll meet the others there. We heard people talking about the orphan princess and it was really starting to piss me off.

"These guys do know the King is still alive,  right?" Shaun asked. "Let's just find Lani." I told him as we entered the cafeteria. I immediately spotted the group at our usual table.

We walked up to them and I honestly didn't want to get involved in whatever Cole and Alan were up to.

We talked, got our food, ate and now it was time to get back to class. I don't even know how Celine got into Alan's lap so quickly.

I rolled my eyes and Shaun smirked. He just loves seeing Alan uncomfortable. "Leave."Alan said with no emotion. "I thought maybe we could walk to class together. "She said sweetly.

"We don't have any classes together today. "Alan said ."Aww you noticed. "She said leaning in. Alan picked her up and stood up as well before getting her on her feet.

"The only reason i noticed is because Monday is the only day of the week when i can get away from you in class. "Alan responded straightening his shirt.

"Awkward. " Shaun whispered to Cole but loud enough so we could hear. "I know right, let's get to class."Cole whispered back.

"Cole informs me that you and i have next period together princess. "Shaun smiled looking at Lani. "Yeah, but I don't want to walk to class with you."Celine said in a disgusted tone.

"Yeah umm...i was talking to the actual princess."Shaun said confused. "I honestly didn't even know we're in the same class. "Shaun whispered to Cole again. "I'm just waiting for her to leave. "Cole whispered back.

Celine scoffed and walked away. "Okay, you two really need to learn how to whisper. "Lani said trying not to smile. "Were we whispering? "They both asked in sync.

"Can we just get to class, i feel so violated. "Alan said looking uncomfortable. Kelly chuckled but shut up when Alan glared.

For our next classes we were spilt in half. Lani, Shaun and Kelly had the same classes . Cole, Alan and i also had the same classes together.

We walked our separate ways to our next class.

"So what do you guys wanna do now?" Cole asked. "Umm...go to class?"i responded confused. "Oh yeah right. "He said like he just remembered.

"You are one weird kid." Alan muttered.  "I wonder what his wolf will be like. Speaking of wolves, i need to talk to my dad." I said.

"Now?"Cole asked. "Well, yeah. I wouldn't be able to focus in class anyway. "I said. "Ok, so what do we tell the teachers if they ask?" Cole asked.

"That it's none of their business. "Alan said. "Just tell them I'm sick."i said.

"Pack members will be all over wanting to see you." Cole said which was kind of true. I can't fall ill a few days till i take over. "You know Uncle Cal gets a little over protective. "He added.

"What about uncle Max?"i asked. "Hey what's my dad have to do with this?"Alan asked.

"Are you kidding? When we were six you sneezed and your dad put your whole pack on lock down. "I explained.

"That was just a safety precaution. "Alan said defending his dad. "He threatened to kill anyone who came close to your house." Cole added.

"Oh trust me that wasn't a threat." Alan said chuckling a bit which made me worry.

The bell rang. "You guys get to class, I'm leaving. " i said. "Cole...what am i thinking. Alan bring Lani home."i said.

"What's that supposed to mean. "Cole pouted. I rolled my eyes. "Yeah I'm not doing that." Alan stated.

"Come on dude.  Cole will kill her and i don't want her alone with Shaun. "I said. "This concerns me how?" He asked. "Bro code"i said crossing my arms.

"We're wolves." Alan stated emotionless. He crossed his arms and looked away.

"Guys we have to get to class before we all get detention. "Cole said making me realize we're the only ones in the hall.

"Al, just do this for me please. I owe you one." I said running to the exit. "What the hell? Xan."i heard Alan call after me but I'd already reached the parking lot.

Alan can act as mean as he wants but I'm certain he'll do it for me. I got in my car and drove off to the pack house.

I arrived at the house and it was quiet considering the pups were at school.  I headed to my dad's office knowing he'd probably be working.

I knocked. "Come in." Dad responded obviously in alpha mode. I slowly stepped in. "Alexander. "He said in surprise. "Why are you back so early son? I can tell something is on your mind."he added.

"I have a question...about mates? "I said hesitantly. "What about them?"he asked setting aside the documents he was going through and using an unfinished beer as a paperweight.

"How did you know mum was your mate? " i asked. He smiled. Dad always told me about mum. I didn't get to know  her but dad talks about her so much, it kinda feels like I did.

"Have a seat, Alex."he said gesturing to the couch. I sat on it as he got up and went through some books on the shelves. "I met your mother when i was only fifteen. "He started, walking towards me.

"Your uncle Dean and I found her trespassing on pack lands. She was a rogue, we attacked her and questioned her.

She didn't have any bad intentions so your Aunt and Uncle told your grandparents. "He said looking straight ahead like he was reliving the moment.

"Your grandmother was all over her because she was just a teenager. It seemed everyone was so in love with her, even your grandfather but i was convinced she was plotting against us." He continued. I'd heard this story countless times before but i could never get bored of it.

" Two weeks after she joined our pack, there was an attack.  I wasn't focused on the chaos, i was convinced that it was her doing.

I was so angry i didn't see the rogue attack. Your mother was quick to save me, but she got hurt in the process. "

"After, she was rushed to the pack doctor. Everything was alright but i felt terrible and so i apologized.  Mostly because your aunt wouldn't stop nagging me."he said chuckling a bit.

"I relaxed around her and she was really nice. A week later i wanted her to be my mate. A month later, i was sure she was."he said.

"How?"i asked. "You just feel it, son. Trust me Alexander." He said and handed me picture of him, mum, uncle Dean and Aunt Kelly. I smiled.

They were in the kitchen and dad and aunt Debbie looked like they were arguing about something as usual. Mom    and uncle Dean had huge smiles on their faces as they looked at the camera.

"Now, i never thought you or any of your friends apart from Shaun would reach this point , but i guess my little boy is growing up."he said running his hand through my hair.

"Dad."i whined fixing it. "We need to talk about protection. "He stated.

"Nope."i muttered immediately getting up and making for the door. "It is very important. Pulling out isn't protection.  I found that out the hard way."he said.

"Wait what?"i asked. "Now that i have your attention. Do i know her?"he asked. I chuckled. "You'll find out when I'm sure."i said walking out.

"Just like your mama." I heard him say making me smile.  Dad is honestly the best father i could ask for. He's never made me feel like i was the cause of mum's death.

He always says mum is his hero and I'm the greatest gift he's ever gotten. "Oh by the way you're grounded for skipping class. "He said poking his head out from his office.

"Dad come on. Don't you think I'm ready to just stop and focus on pack duties?"i asked hopefully.

He laughed. "Come find me when you're no longer a pup."he said chuckling as he went back inside. I rolled my eyes and went to the living room. What am i going to do till Cole and Alan get home?
