Chapter 63

Leilani's POV

Still no text from Shane. I don't even know if he's still here or he's returned. No rogues have been spotted either. Has he been able to convince his father?

"Earth to Lani." Sophia called through the phone. I was telling her what happened with Shane and I guess I blanked out.

"Sorry Soph. I was just thinking." I said."I'm sure everything will be fine."Sophia said reassuring me.

"Or maybe I can find-" she cut me off. "Don't even think about it. You don't even know where he is. Even if you do, what makes you think you'll be spared?"she asked.

I sighed."Look Lani, I know it's who you are and I love you for that. Nevel loves you for that. Uncle loves you especially for that and Alex does too. But we kinda need you alive."Sophia said.

A million things raced through my head that second. "Alex loves me?" I whispered. I don't know if i was talking to myself or Sophia but my voice was barely audible.

"What are you? Blind?" Sophia asked. "I. He. I mean, we haven't said the l word yet." I stuttered. "Why?" Sophia asked. "We aren't there yet."I responded.

"So you don't love him?" She asked. I could feel the blush form. "I care about him. A lot actually." I responded. "That's not what i asked you though?" Sophia said smugly.

"Can we just talk about something else?" I asked. "Whatever. How's Nevel holding up over there?" She asked.

"Better than I expected actually. He's being a normal kid. At least when his face isn't buried in books." I responded.

"Hey."Nevel whined. I rolled my eyes. I'm currently in the library with Nevel and Ivy.

Ivy is sitting on a bean bag playing a video game and Nevel is next to her with a book in his hand. "Leave him alone. Everyone has their likes."Sophia chuckled.

"Thank you." Nevel called out. "Try reading a book sometimes, Lei."he added looking up from his book. "I read a lot of E-books you dinosaur." I retorted.

Ivy chuckled. "I'd be one smart dino." Nevel shrugged with a smirk. "I'm not sure bringing him here was a good idea." I said obviously joking. I feel better with my little brother here.

"Come on. He's adapting. "Sophia said. "Speaking of adapting. How are things going with, you know?" I asked. "I'm bored out of my mind. I can't wait till your birthday. Then I can leave." Sophia muttered.

"Will you and Alex be taking over immediately?"she asked. "Not yet. Dad has some stuff to wrap up himself but the ceremony will still be held at the royal pack." I said.

"I won't be surprised if you and Kelly have already rented out the mall to find your perfect dress." Sophia said sarcastically. "That's a great idea, Soph."I said cutting her off.

"What? No, Lani it was a joke." She responded hurriedly. "Right again. It'll need to be at the royal pack." I murmured. "You're not listening and I'm not sure your dad will be fine with you renting out the mall." Sophia said.

"You're right. Fine I won't, but we're still going dress shopping and we're picking you up." I said. "When?" Sophia asked confused. "In a few hours." I responded.

"You're unbelievable." Sophia muttered. "Love you too." I said hanging up. "You're going home?" Nevel asked, his eyes never leaving the book.

"Wanna come with or are you fine with the boys?" I asked. "Are you sure you should be going alone?" Nevel asked. "I'm going with Kelly. I'm not alone." I responded.

"Will the guys know?" He asked. "Nev, stop worrying. That's my job." I said getting up and ruffling his hair. He sighed. "I'll be fine here. See you later." He said.
