Chapter 38

Alexander's POV

After Lani left I decided to go find her Dad. I can't just act like the person who wanted Lani and Shaun isn't out there. Those rogues were working with someone and i need them dead.

I went upstairs and found him on Nevel's floor. He was standing in front of Nevel's movie room which he'd shown me earlier.

Nevel was so focused on what he was watching that I'm not sure he noticed his father watching him. "King Lawrence. "I called. He turned around.

"Alexander you're my daughter's mate. You can call me Lawrence. "He said. I nodded. "I can tell something is bothering you." He added.

"It's about Lani's kidnapping. One of my friends was also involved. The person managed to get into Shaun's car to plant the gas marble." I stated voicing my concerns.

"I'm worried too Alexander. Every fibre of my being is telling me to bring her back here but it wouldn't be fair to either of you."he said with a sigh.

"The rogues we captured refuse to talk. They must either have nothing to live for or fear their leader way too much." I stated. "It might be possible their leader didn't tell them the plan. According to your father, they were easy to kill and had no extraordinary qualities. "Lawrence said.

I'm afraid dad might be right, we might have a traitor among us. "It's almost as if they weren't planning on keeping them, if it was a ransom situation we would have heard some demands. "I said.

"We'll look into it. I know considering Leilani is your mate you will not listen to this but, don't worry so much. I'll have guards search the entire place." He said. He was right, I can't stop worrying about this.

"Your friends must be waiting for you though. We'll handle this."he said. I nodded and was about to leave when i remembered Nevel. "Umm...Lawrence." i started.

He looked at me signaling that I could continue. "Have you ever thought about Nevel having a life outside the palace gates?" I asked. He sighed.

"I mean with what happened with Lani i know my pack hasn't been proven to be the safest, but no one knows there is a prince. He can have a normal childhood. " I suggested respectfully. He's a single dad dealing with a teenage girl and little boy.

"I understand what you mean Alexander. As much as I'd like to deny the fact that he's growing up, he is. However, I won't force my son to do something he doesn't want to."he added.

"What if we manage to convince him? Maybe if we show him around a bit he'll want to." I suggested. "I guess if you manage to convince him, he'll join my niece next month." He stated.

I nodded. "I already know you'll make an excellent King. After all, you were roaming these halls before and after you were born."he said chuckling.

"I remember i had a meeting with your father that week. Your mother and my mate got along really well so your mother joined. They were both supposed to be resting but your mum insisted on painting because it calmed her." He continued.

Mum liked painting? Wow. "This very hall was painted by your mother in just two days. She loved astronomy and said this was the gift for the future prince or princess. I guess the moon goddess blessed me with both."he said chuckling  sadly.

"Wait if I was born here, does it mean mum..." i trailed off but he seemed to understand. "It was tragic. We were all grieving. It wasn't a surprise though, i guess we all tried to deny the inevitable." He said.

"What do you mean it wasn't a surprise? " I asked confused. "Alexander, your mother loved you. Even before you were born, which is why she decided her last gift to this world would be you."he explained.

Mum knew she'd die? Then why do it? "Because she loved you and she's an amazing person. "He answered as if reading my mind. "It's a shame they're both not here. All i know is that they're so proud. They are the strongest women i know. Unlike Jayce's mum."he said.

It's weird hearing Alan be referred to as Jayce. "What was his mum like?" I asked. "I was never really close to her. There were days i saw why Max fell for her. Other days I didn't. I just blamed it on the pregnancy. "He said.

"That was until the day Max showed up broken at my door. The stress of turning an alpha at 16 and the love of his life abandoning him crashing down at once."he stated sadly as he shook his head as if to erase the thought.

"I'm here for you boys. If Jayce ever wants to know about his mum or you want to know about yours. I'll be happy to answer." He stated patting my back.

"Well you best go back to your friends before Leilani starts to worry. I have to make sure my second child isn't sucked into the tv with how hard he's staring at it. "Lawrence said.

I chuckled and nodded. I turned around and walked away, i couldn't help but admire the paintings as I left, i felt closer to her.

I went back down to the living room, at least one of it. I found them watching TV.  Cole had his head on Alan's lap in one couch. Shaun was sprawled out on another couch and Kelly was on another with her entire focus on the television.

I sat next to Lani who was laying down on one couch. She moved closer and placed her head on my lap like a pillow. What the hell are they watching, she didn't even spare me a glance.

"What were you talking about?"she asked. "Don't worry about it." I responded playing with her hair. I loved it, her hair was so thick and soft.
Then again i love everything about her.

I groaned when I saw what they were watching. Kelly has made us watch this like million times. Well not a million but you get my point.

Kelly and Lani glared at me when i groaned. "Can we leave?" Shaun groaned. "I don't need you here, Lani?" Kelly asked receiving a gasp from Shaun.

"Nope, make yourself at home."she said also not taking her eyes of the screen. "I want to play with the kid. Where is he?" Cole asked. "Please don't scare my brother." Lani muttered.

"Harrassment of the royal family can get you killed." Alan simply stated. "That's not true." Cole argued. "Why don't you find out." Alan suggested with a smirk. "I will. Lani." Cole called.

"I guess you can speak to him, but he's not used to many people so don't push him." She sighed. "Yay." Cole said getting  up. He looked around the huge living room before looking back at us.

"Exactly where can i find him?"he asked confused. "I'll take you."i said just wanting to get away from Peter whatever and Lara something.

"I'll come too." Shaun said getting up. "Jayce, you coming? "I asked wanting a reaction from him. Surprisingly, he didn't react. "No. Kids are weird. "He simply stated. "Or maybe you love the movie and you're just denying it. "Kelly smirked.

"Aren't you just the best fucking comedian. " Alan muttered rolling his eyes. I led Shaun and Cole upstairs to harass Nevel. When we got to his floor, i knocked on the door to his movie room.

"Dad?" He asked in a small voice. "It's Alex. "I stated. "Come in."he responded. He hesitated when he saw Cole and Shaun. "They're cool." I said and he nodded. "For some reason they wanted to-"

"Shut up Xan you're putting the kid to sleep. "Cole said literally whacking my mouth. I glared at them as they approached Nevel. "What are you watching little guy?" Shaun asked in a babyish voice.

"Tom and friends." He responded softly. "I love that show." Cole and Shaun said in sync causing Nevel to smile. They sat on the other seats since the room was like a mini cinema.

I was about to leave to go back and join Alan but i didn't want to leave Nevel alone with them until I was sure he's comfortable.

That's how I ended up watching Tom and friends with a 7 year old and two of my bestfriends with the minds of a 7 year old.
