Chapter 18

Alexander's POV

Dinner is over and Shaun's following Bertha around begging her to unground him. Kelly and Lani headed upstairs a while ago. No matter how hard i try, i can't get Lani's face from my head.

I'm in the living room with Cole and Alan. Cole and I are playing a video game and Alan is just sitting there twirling his finger around the tip of his pocket knife. "Hey guys."i said calling their attention.

"Yeah." Cole responded, not taking his eyes off the screen. "Do you want to meet your mates? "I asked. Cole paused the game which he was obviously cheating on because i wasn't even holding the controller.

"Yeah, it's what we've always wanted, right?" Cole asked. "Well, yeah but that'll mean we're with them forever."i said. "Yeah forever." Alan scoffed.

"Xan, is this about Lani?" Cole asked. "Look, we love Lani and she's great and everything , but your birthday's in a few days. I don't want any of you to get hurt." Cole said. "Just don't screw up. Your birthday is in less than two weeks." Alan said.

"Yeah you guys are probably right." I said with a shrug. "What about you Al?"i asked. "What about me?" He asked. "You never really talk about your mate and your birthday is next month." Cole said.

"Dad made me promise to at least give it a chance and if i don't like it, i can reject her." Alan said. "I'll probably reject her." He added coldly. "I'm not sure you can call that giving it a chance."i said. "Trust me, she's lucky if I don't snap her neck the moment i see her."he said.

"You scare me sometimes. "Cole stated. "Good. I'm an alpha, not a boyfriend. "Alan said. "Just promise to give it a chance. Please. " I added. If Alan wouldn't do it for himself, he'll definitely do it for us and especially his father .

He nodded. "Crazy idea." Cole said with a smile. "What?" I asked. "No." Alan stated. "What if I'm your mate?" Cole asked. "Dude, I'd reject you instantly." Alan said. "What? I'd be an awesome mate. Right, Xan?" He asked.

"See, it's things like that which make you seem gay." I said unpausing the video game. "I'm going to pretend you didn't just say that." Cole gasped dramatically with his hand over his chest.

Alan rolled his eyes and pulled out his phone. "You cheat." Cole said hopping on the couch to grab his controller. I was just about to beat him but he was gaining control. Alan shoved Cole off the couch without taking his eyes off his phone.

I used the opportunity to beat him and won. I fist bumped Alan who just smirked as we watched Cole throw a tantrum on the ground. "You cheater. " Cole said as he lunged himself at us. We struggled to pry Cole off. "And you wonder why you're virgins." we heard Shaun say.

He sighed. "I'm gonna go see if the girls want to hangout." He said. We paused. "Not that kind of hanging out. You guys need to have a little more faith in me." Shaun said. "This is coming from the guy who has slept with 50% of the girls in school. "I said pushing Cole off.

"I'm insulted Xandy wandy, more like 80%." He said. "Don't call me that. " i said glaring at him. He shrugged before heading upstairs. "Kelsay! Lanay!"he screamed.

We ignored him and stayed downstairs playing video games till it got late. We went to our rooms but i couldn't sleep. It was around 11pm and I knew the others were probably asleep. They aren't my only friends but they're my closest friends.

I went online and noticed Kelly was also online. Did she fall asleep with her phone because Kelly is never awake this late. I decided to text her and see.

Alex: Hey, you up?

Kelly: Yeah, I'm surprised you are.

Alex:You're the one to talk sleeping beauty. What are you doing?

Kelly: Talking to a friend 😊

Alex: I'm guessing it isn't a girl.

Kelly: No it's a new kid.

Alex:Name?

Kelly: Why?

Alex: Just wanna know, there were a couple of new boys in school.

Kelly:His name is Wyatt. He's pretty cool.

Alex: I bet. Just be careful. You don't know this guy.

Kelly: Yeah well I'm getting to.

Alex: K, well get some rest. School starts in a few hours.

Kelly: Sure. Goodnight, Xan.

Alex: Night.

Wyatt. Why does the name sound familiar? Kelly's old enough and wouldn't want me meddling. Speaking of which.

If i do end up mated to Lani, what am i going to do? My whole life is here. Uncle Dean, Aunt Debbie, Bertha, Shaun, Alan, Cole, Kelly and dad. They're my family . We've never been apart.

It's weird, a few minutes ago, I was wishing Lani was my mate. Now I'm not so sure.
