Chapter 71

Leilani's POV

I don't know what's going on. Everything is different today. Normally, Bertha is the only one awake when I wake up.

We make breakfast together and talk. Calvin, Debbie and Dean get something to eat before going on with their day.

Kelly gets the kids ready and the boys just sleep in. Today is different.

The boys are already out. I haven't seen Calvin, Debbie, Dean or even Bertha. Nevel and Ivy are dull and I just wish one of the twins would stop ghosting me.

Lani: He needs to come back.

They both stopped responding from there.

Celine picked Nevel and Ivy up. She didn't even do anything weird or make a remark because every pack member could feel the tension.

I decided to check up on Kelly but her door was locked. Maybe she was still sleeping.

I feel weird doing nothing while the guys are out searching, so I texted Shane. I asked him whether we could meet up.

He might be the last person I want to see right now but I'm doing this for my friends. Shane read my message but as usual, didn't respond.

He didn't hurt me the first time. Let's hope it won't be different now. I headed out with full intention of finding the Vicenzi twins.

North border first. I wasn't even scared.
It sucks that I haven't shifted yet, I've been searching rogue territory for hours.

I've killed a couple of rogues but only when they striked first.
That was dumb on their part because a mere rogue can't take on a royal.

My feet are killing me so I know I've walked quite a distance. I'm alone in rogue territory so I'm on high alert.

I feel a safe presence so I know I'm not in danger. "Move and I kill you." A cold voice growled with authority. The presence though...

I rolled my eyes at the threat and turned to face none other than Cole.

"Lani? What the fuck are you doing alone out here?" He asked in surprise, his voice going back to normal.

"I could ask you the same thing." I retorted. "I'm not a royal." He said crossing his arms.

"Just go. Xander will be pissed if he sees you here." He sighed. "Too late." I heard Alex murmur walking out from behind the trees.

"Hi." I greeted innocently as he scowled at me. "What were you thinking coming here alone?"Alex growled. "I wanted to help?" I responded uncertainly.

"Do you know how wrong that could have gone?" Alex sighed running his hand through his hair.

"Don't worry. I've been following her from the start." I heard a voice like Alan state. Except Alan wasn't here. We looked around in confusion and heard a sigh.

Alan leaped from the tree above us. He landed on his feet and took a leaf from his hair.

"You were stalking me?" I asked glaring at him. "More like making sure you don't die. You're skilled I'll give you that. She can handle herself." Alan shrugged.
