Dear Diary,

The train stopped in Greenwood, Mississippi. Everyone raced off, Sebastian and I last, and the first thing we did was shout at each other.

"We should go back," I insisted. "We need to go to the destroyed half and salvage our stuff. It's only about ten miles north."

"Ten miles?" Sebastian snapped. "The average human walks three miles an hour, Reyna, meaning it'd take us over three hours to find the destroyed half- key word destroyed- and possibly salvage our stuff!"

"Do you have a better idea?" I demanded.

"Yeah! We grab a car, and we head to New Orleans like we planned."

"Oh, if that's your brilliant plan, why not just head West and group up right in San Antonio?"

"Because Suki said New Orleans, there might be more gold in New Orleans, and it's closer than San Antonio!" He tapped his skull aggressively and leaned down to get in my face. "Did you forget that? Are you stupid? Do you not know how to use your brain?"

I slapped him and he backed off. "Do not ever get in my face, Sebastian. I don't care how old you are, but you will never talk to me like that."

"Or what?" He spread his arms and twirled around. "We're stuck in the middle of Bumfuck, Mississippi with no money, no gear, and no Suki and Jason!" He turned to me and pointed. "This is ridiculous!" He slammed down in the dirt and gave up.

I clenched my jaw. "Seb, get it together." He glared at me over his shoulder. "We're fine. We've survived worse. We'll just..." I dug in my pockets. "I have a ten and a few dimes here. Do you have any money?"

He rooted his pockets. "Three bucks and five denarii."

"We'll get some gas station food," I said, "and we'll get a car like you said, and just gun it for New Orleans. On the way, I'll write Suki and Jason a letter, and we'll confirm that New Orleans is the place together." I approached him. He stared at the boring city before us, his head in his hands. "It's alright. Suki and Jason will be fine. We'll be fine."

"Reyna, we started fighting the second we got off of the train."

"We'll get past that, too." I didn't exactly know how. "Your idea is a good one. I just... I hate all of our stuff being left behind."

"I do, too." Sebastian got up, then looked at me with bright eyes. "So, we have no money, no food, no nothing."

I stared at him. "Another good point."

"We'll steal a motorcycle," Sebastian whispered. "They get twice as many miles to the gallon, and we'll be able to thread traffic easier."

"Seb, no offense, but you barely know how to drive a car."

"Exactly why a motorcycle will be easier!"

That logic made absolutely no sense to me, but Sebastian grabbed my hand and lugged me along. "C'mon. Let's camp out at a gas station, and wait for the perfect bike to come along."
