my eyes fluttered open as i felt the movement of the train come to a stop. a yawn escaped my lips as i stretched my arms, glancing outside to see that the night sky had fallen upon us. i glanced over across from me, seeing laxus wide awake as he leaned his head on the palm of his hand, staring out the window as he seemed deep in thought.
"where are we going?" i questioned, when laxus didn't move to leave. the train started up again and we were pff again towards the next destination.
"far." laxus answered, not giving much of an answer as i sweatdropped. i sighed, peering around the carriage, noticing how empty it was which made sense since it was so late at night. the two of us had left after laxus had bid the thunder legion goodbye and taken one last look at fairy tail at the fantasia parade. "are you sure you won't regret not saying goodbye?" he suddenly asked, catching my attention as i looked up at him. he was staring at me, his head tilted as he waited for my answer.
"why would i say goodbye when i know i'll see them again soon?" i said as if it were obvious. however, the words were more just reassurance. reassuring myself that not saying goodbye was okay, that i wasn't being selfish and that what i did was the right thing.
"you really think you can survive my training?" he taunted, a smirk playing on his lips as he sat up straight. i raised an eyebrow, mirroring his smirk as i crossed my arms.
"hey, i'm not the same weak girl you beat up last time." i fired back. neither of our gazes broke away, testing one another as the train continued to ride quietly through the night. laxus nodded his head, leaning back into his seat.
"okay, our first destination is ceran." this made me falter. my eyes widened in surprise as my arms fell to my sides and i leaned forward, wondering if i had heard right. "we need to find out more about your powers, and the previous bearer." he continued, as if that answer would calm me down.
"you're joking, right? there's no way i can go back there! they'll―" i cut myself off, glancing around as i suddenly became paranoid that someone was listening. although there was no reason to considering it was an empty carriage. "i can't face them." i quietly finished, dropping my gaze to my lap.
