[ EPISODE THIRTY NINE ]

breaking the warming moment between amaya and yang's soul, the wall suddenly broke and several bodies came flying towards the girl, knocking her off her feet as she was squished under the bottom of the pile. the fairy tail members, yukino and arcadios who had been split apart reunited upon the walls opening and connecting their areas together.

"huh? everyone!"

"what timing!"

"what a coincidence!" they were all relieved to see one another, glancing between each other and ensuring that everyone was okay.

"where's maya-chan?" lucy questioned, noticing that the green haired mage was missing. natsu sniffed the air, her scent right under his nose but he couldn't see her anywhere.

"i can smell her." he mumbled in confusion, wondering where the girl was hiding.

"h-here..." the strained voice caught their attention as they looked towards the garou knights, noticing an addition to the numbers that they had originally fought.

"maya!" mirajane noticed her first, reaching out and pulling the girl out from underneath as the others apologised for their attacks that had sent the garou knights all flying into amaya. "are you okay?" she questioned, a bright smile on her face like always.

"i'm fine." the girl breathed out, doubled over with her hands on her knees, grateful that air was filling her lungs. "oh, everyone's here." she finally took notice of the others, relief washing over her that they were all together again.

"did you fight too?" happy questioned, noticing that the girl's hair was black as opposed to her usual green, signalling that she was fused with yang's soul.

"just some palace guards," she answered with a pout. "although i much rather would have fought the garou knights." she sighed, feeling that yang's strength was wasted on weaklings. the girls sweatdropped, knowing that she was being completely serious.

"palace guards?" natsu questioned, walking over to the green haired mage. "are you okay? did they hurt you?" he placed his hands on her shoulders, moving her around as he inspected every inch of her body for any wounds. "when i get my hands on them―" amaya placed her own hands on his forearms, catching his attention.

"i'm fine." she assured him as their gazes met. natsu was taken aback by her assertive tone and fixed eye contact, a smile overtaking his features as he breathed a sigh of relief, nodding his head. it wasn't just amaya telling him that she was fine, but she was also saying that she could fight alongside him now. the two released their hold as amaya finally departed yang from her body, the soul returning to rest as she tied the ribbon around her neck.
