"is this the place?" maya questioned as they walked through a creepy forest into an opening with what looked like an abandoned church building.
"yeah." natsu nodded as they stopped in their tracks.
"what's the plan, natsu?" happy questioned, looking up at the pinkette.
"of course, we take it by storm." he answered with a smirk, taking maya aback at his ridiculous idea as she stared at him with wide eyes. "alright! charge!" he exclaimed, running off with happy right by his side.
"aye sir!"
"wait―!" she pounced forward, managing to grab the back of their collars in time as the three fell to the ground from her sudden actions causing them to lose their balance. "are you crazy, how can you just go in without a plan!?" she exclaimed in annoyance, glaring at them as the two sat up.
"what's the big deal?" natsu whined, rubbing his head. "i can take them all!" he assured, but immediately cowered as maya's eyes narrowed. a sigh escaped her lips as she pushed herself up into a sitting position.
"remember, these guys are zeref's followers," she reminded them, her eyes cast down. "last time we dealt with zeref was during tartaros..." she trailed off, the horrible memories coming back to her as natsu and happy peered over, their features visibly softening. "either way, we need to scope out the area first before we jump in." she finished off, brushing off her personal feelings and bringing herself back to the conversation.
"okay," he agreed, nodding his head in understanding. "but how do we do that?" maya smiled, glancing to her left as the two followed her gaze, their eyes landing on a black ball floating in the air as it headed towards them.
"done?" she questioned, as yang's soul form stopped before her. his eyes appeared as he hummed in acknowledgement.
