"look at that!" as the steam cleared, their expectations of seeing flames replace the mountain of ice they had seen was quickly shut down, as nothing stood before them. however, at the bottom of it all, a very small fire burned, barely alive from the damage it had taken.
"maya! do you think you can bring it back to its full form!?" gray called out, peering over his shoulder at the girl. she flinched in surprise, meeting his gaze as she snapped out of her thoughts. with a determined look, she nodded her head before running over to the altar.
"get back!" she instructed, jumping into the air and putting her hands together before allowing a strong force of fire to leave her palms. the heat was almost as strong as natsu's as the others shielded themselves, the bright flames completely blinding them as they were taken aback by maya's strength.

however, as her own flames cleared, she was surprised to see that the weak flame from earlier hadn't changed at all. "huh―!" she was taken aback by the sight of it, as the others shared a similar expression, not guessing that her magic wouldn't affect it at all. "wait―!" before she could ready herself to try again, she realised she was falling through the air, taking her by surprise as a small yelp escaped her lips.
"gotcha!" happy swooped through the air, grabbing the girl by the back of her clothes in time as a breath of relief escaped her lips.
"happy, take me to the flame." she instructed, the exceed nodding his head as he brought her down to the altar where the fire sat. without hesitation, she inserted her hand inside, causing the exceed's jaw to drop as he panicked. "i knew it, regular fire magic isn't going to work." she declared, glancing up at the sky as the others followed her gaze. "natsu!"
"okay," he grinned, nodding his head as he had heard her. "i'm on it." without wasting time, he continued to attack the bird monster, grabbing its tail and throwing it down towards them. however, the bird retaliated and released a beam of light from its eye, attacking natsu before twisting it towards them all on the ground.
"happy, get me up there." maya instructed, running forward to get a head start as the exceed snapped out of his daze.
