[ EPISODE SIXTY NINE ]
✮
"killed...?" she felt as if all the air from her lungs had been ripped out and she was left to gasp helplessly. tears threatened to spill but she felt nothing. she couldn't say anything as panic rose throughout her body, unable to look the man in the eyes as they instead darted around the room, wondering why everything was spinning.
"i loved her very much," he suddenly continued, catching her attention as she looked up at him. "but she was always against the idea of taking her father's powers, even after i begged him to pass it to me instead, he chose some scum from that silly guild." he lazily pointed towards the exposed skin on her shoulder where her top had been cut from the previous battle and revealed her guild mark. "after we moved to ceran when she was seven months along, i created my own little army of demons. an army that no one had any idea about, who blended in perfectly and listened to my every word."
"ferid..." she mumbled quietly to herself, the pieces finally coming together.
"ah ferid," the man hummed, as if he was reminiscing a fond memory. "he was best friends with the king, but," he paused to laugh, shaking his head. "man, he was so easy to take control of. his hatred was so strong." something seemed to switch within the man, as a strange, dark, negative energy emitted from his body. "him and the other soldiers, we were unstoppable! and we could have had it all!" he exclaimed, getting all up in her face. "but your stupid mother, even after killing her she gave me grief!" he shouted in annoyance, the excitement suddenly switching to anger as his emotions were all over the place. "you were meant to go with her, but without me knowing, she had given birth to you and my stupid brother and his witch of a wife hid you from me. after they banished me from all of fiore, i went into hiding."
"you wanted to... kill me?" she could barely process the other words he uttered, as only those words played on repeat in her head.
"but then i see you in those silly games," he continued, ignoring her hurt as he continued to stab at her relentlessly, recalling his past. "and then you were brave enough to return to ceran, so i was finally able to set my plan into motion." although she didn't want to hear anymore of what he had to say, she was forced to hear it all. with no choice but to believe every word from the man who claimed to be her real father. "i was finally so close," he sighed, clenching his fists as he glared at the girl. "but those stupid souls, just like my father-in-law said, its only compatible with the blood of a yamabana."
"why do you want them?" she questioned, tired of all of this. she didn't understand what was so great about such a power. of course, now she loved the two souls and would do anything to protect them, but the pain, torture and harm that she's caused because of them, she'd never wish for anyone to go through it. "you know you'll just die."
"of course i know that!" he snapped at her, causing the girl to flinch as she watched him stand back up to his feet and turn away from her. "my father-in-law refused to give me the power because he knew i'd die, but..." he trailed off, seeming to change personalities once again as he struggled to get his words out. "with it... i can do so much more. i can control time and space, i can create a whole new universe and live happily with nova and you. ferid and hikaru can make up for what i did and be friends like old times, and hikaru and rikka can live together with us all again."
