"eh? loke was a celestial spirit!?" i exclaimed, glancing over at mira who was handing over a beer to cana. "i guess that explains quite a lot." i nodded, remembering lucy complaining about how weird he was around her. "so she saved him, huh?" i smiled, nodding my head. you've grown a lot, lucy. they had left earlier in the morning to akane beach after the celestial spirit had given them free tickets to the resort there. i had to admit, i was a little jealous that i couldn't go, but they deserved to rest more than i did.

"maya," i glanced up from the dishes i was cleaning, noticing laxus who had called for me. i visibly gulped, surprised he was back so soon as i my eyes met his glare. "follow me." he ordered, nodding his head before heading out of the makeshift guild we temporarily had whilst we were still rebuilding. without a word, i followed the lightning dragon slayer, keeping my head low as the two of us stepped away from the guild and from any peering ears.

we were quite a distance away when he finally stopped in his tracks, turning around to face me. i glanced up, not given a chance to defend myself when his arm wrapped around my neck in a headlock. "why didn't you tell me you got hurt!?" he exclaimed, giving my hair a noogie as i protested, slapping his arm. 

"ah! it hurts, laxus!" i whined, tapping out. the boy chuckled, releasing his weak hold as i breathed a sigh of relief, glaring up at him. "seriously, we're not kids anymore." i mumbled, crossing my arms. 

"what? you deserved it for not calling me sooner." he shrugged, as if that was a valid reason. 

"i can take care of myself." i assured, although the both of us knew that wasn't true. "what are you doing back so soon? you weren't returning for another three days." i changed the topic, looking up at him. he sighed, allowing the subject to be diverted as he answered me.

"i finished up early. i couldn't sit still after i heard what happened to you." he admitted. a small smile graced my lips, looking up at the man who always cared for me. although you wouldn't think it, laxus and i had a strangely close relationship. 

it had started back a few weeks after i had joined fairy tail.

"here you are." i peeked one eye open as i peered down at the source of the voice, landing on laxus who stood below at the foot of the tree. i simply sighed, shutting my eyes again before getting comfortable on the branch and ignoring him. he obviously did not like that, irritated by my attitude as he shook the tree and continued to disturb me. "hey! amaya lumiere, get down here!" he ordered, managing to rattle me out of the tree as i lost my balance and fell through the air. luckily, there was more than enough time to bend my knees and land on my feet gracefully.

"do you mind?" i glared at the blonde haired boy, crossing my arms over my chest as i stood tall, not letting him intimidate me despite how scared i was of him.
