future amaya led them through the palace from memory, guiding them to safety and preventing any chance of them getting caught like they had done in her timeline. however, as they ran through the winding hallways, they still managed to unfortunately bump into the imperial army despite her efforts, forcing the group to fight. arcadios and yukino disappeared before the battle, and mirajane went off to find them, leaving them with less manpower against the guards.
amaya had unified with yin, utilising her dawn mode as she joined the fight. it was opposite to yang's dusk mode, using the strongest form and energy of light within her attacks to defeat the soldiers. although no matter how many they defeated, it felt like more just continued to keep appearing, seeming like an endless loop that had no end near in sight. it didn't help the fact that the girl wasn't used to using both souls consecutively like this, pushing herself beyond her limits and having no chance to regain her stamina.
in the middle of the battle, whilst they were already swamped with the limitless amount of imperial guards, the garou knights also suddenly appeared, taking them by surprise as they had thought they would have still been knocked out after their battle in hell palace. however, it didn't faze the fairy tail members as they gave everything they had, attacking left, right and centre and pushing themselves to win.
"what is this!?" despite their persistency, it all fell through when a sea of black shadow appeared below their enemy and swallowed them into the darkness. the fairy tail members stared in horror, watching as the shadows retracted and a man walked towards them.
"the shadows are fanning out to the past or the future?" amaya's eyes widened as she immediately recognised the voice, but he looked completely different to the him that she was used to. "i've come from the future, i am rogue."
"rogue? you're rogue?" natsu questioned in disbelief.
"from the future...?" amaya mumbled, also confused by his appearance. as she scanned him up and down, she noticed significant differences to her rogue that she had worked beside in sabertooth.
"why did you come back from the future?" carla asked him, voicing the question that had been on everyone's minds.
