"huh? where's maya?" lucy questioned, approaching natsu and erza who were sat together at one of the tables in the guild. it had been a few days since they had returned from ceran, but it was safe to say that they had been joint at the hip since then.
"with the master." natsu answered with a heavy sigh, his head laid flat against the wooden table as he seemed troubled. lucy glanced over at him in confusion as she slid into the seat next to erza who was busily enjoying her strawberry and cream cake.
"why the long sigh?" the blonde questioned. natsu's eyes glanced up at the girl, seeming to only realise that it was the celestial mage who had shown up as he shot up straight and reached over to grab her by the shoulders.
"lucy!" he exclaimed, surprising the girl. "you can help me!"
"help with what?" lucy reluctantly asked the boy, knowing that nothing good could come from asking such a question.
"with..." he paused, glancing around before leaning in and whispering. " the ring." this piqued erza's interest too as she stopped mid chew to listen to their conversation. a look of realisation washed over lucy's features as a small gasp escaped her lips, her eyes lighting up in excitement.
"for maya?" although she already knew the answer to that as the boy nodded in response.
"propos―!?" erza's voice was quickly muffled as lucy and natsu slapped their hand over her mouth. her wide eyes glanced between the two as she realised she was right.
"now that's a sight i never thought i'd see." a voice chimed in as the three of them peered towards the source, their eyes widening as they recognised her voice immediately. maya glanced over at the ice mage stood next to her who looked equally as confused before they glanced back at the trio, awaiting answers.
"oh!" lucy quickly removed her hand, sitting back with an awkward laugh. "there was a bug!" she lied, not doing such a good job as natsu also pulled away.
