pitter. patter.
i glanced up from the sink, my hands that were cleaning the dishes came to a sudden pause as i stared outside the window. "rain." i quietly mumbled to myself. it had been a while since i had seen rain in magnolia ― it hadn't shown any signs of raining today either when i went for a run in the morning.
i sighed, putting the last dish on the drying rack before unplugging the sink and allowing the water to drain. i dried my hands before heading into the bathroom to shower. today was a later start for me, i had a few days in the week where i would arrive at the guild to work the afternoon into the night, instead of my usual morning to evening routine. it was nice to have a change throughout the week, and it meant that i could spend my morning getting a few chores completed.
i let the water run for a while, deep in my thoughts as i allowed my body to shrivel slowly under the shower head. today was the day lisanna and the others are meant to return from their job. i did my best to try not to think about it too much, distracting myself by keeping busy, but it was hard to fight the feeling in my stomach. i felt this way last time too.
i snapped out of it as i wondered how much time had passed. i reached over and twisted the faucet shut so the water would stop running. i wrapped my body in a towel and cracked open the window slightly to allow the steam to dissipate as i returned to my bedroom. with the weather being colder, i opted for a cardigan on top of my usual dress that i always wore to the guild. i dried my hair and pulled it up into the ponytail i'd always have it in before slipping on my shoes and grabbing an umbrella.
i grabbed my bag and keys, locking the door behind me before making my way to the guild. usually my walk to the guild would be spent greeting those who were walking about, working their stalls or sat enjoying the view, but due to the rain, everyone seemed to be taking shelter inside. it was strangely peaceful, as if i was walking through a ghost town.
i reached the guild at my usual time, however, i noticed that the doors were already wide open and both natsu and happy were stood at the entrance. i smiled, calling out to the boy. "natsu!"
