[ EPISODE EIGHTY ONE ]

walking through magnolia felt strange for the two girls. although maya had visited regularly in passing to ceran, she didn't think the day would come where she would be walking through to finally return home. although a year had passed, it felt like just yesterday that she was being told the guild had disbanded after being in a coma. she didn't want to believe it to be true, but when she saw the gaping hole where their guild once stood, she realised that it was gone before she had a chance to live her adventures.

"maya?" lucy peered over her shoulder, noticing that the girl had stopped in her tracks ― natsu, wendy and the exceeds followed suite, wondering what was going on.

"sorry, i just..." her gaze was fixed on the ground as she nervously gripped the hem of her skirt to hide her trembling hands. "i know we've been dreaming about this, but everyone... they left to do their own things," she began, her eyes saddening at the thought of no one turning up. "what if they don't feel the same way?"

lucy's gaze dropped to the ground, the blonde seeming to be feeling the same way too as she had no idea what words of comfort she could say to help the situation. although she pushed it to the back of her mind, she couldn't help but think that maybe they were being selfish, dragging everyone back like this.

"maybe they've even forgotten about the guild..." she quietly added, unable to even believe the words leaving her mouth as she said it. she didn't want to believe it, she didn't know what she would do if fairy tail never wanted to get back together again. "what if it's all for nothing?"

"since when did you get so negative?" her eyes widened in surprise at the familiar voice as a hand was gently placed on her shoulders, catching her attention as she peered over at the person.

"lisanna!" natsu exclaimed in surprise. the white haired mage smiled as she waved towards the others.

"it's been a while, natsu, lucy, happy, carla." she greeted them warmly. "oh, wendy, did you get taller?"

"no... not at all." the sky dragon slayer answered with a smile, which only made lisanna laugh.

"maya," her tone turned serious as she stepped over to face the green haired mage who had gone quiet since her arrival. it was clear that she was still drinking in the situation, finding it hard to believe that her letter had actually been received and responded to. "you of all people should know how much fairy tail means to each and every one of us." she began, grabbing the girl's hand. "every time you left, you came back, right? because it didn't matter if the building was gone, it continued to live on in here." she reached over, placing a hand over her heart.
