the walk through magnolia as they returned from the grand magic games was something beyond the fairy tail wizards' expectations. although they won first place, it was obvious that their welcome back came unexpected, as they bashfully accepted the praise and celebrations given to them by the citizens of magnolia.
"hey, hey, wasn't she part of sabertooth?"
"i heard they called her athena because she fought with other guilds."
"my friend told me she was crowned as a princess by the king at the grand ball?"
"she's from ceran."
maya's grip around the handle of her luggage tightened as she dragged it along with her, trailing behind the rest of the fairy tail members as she kept her head low. despite their celebrations, she couldn't ignore the fact that she was out of place.
"what are you talking about, she has the fairy tail guild mark!" one of the younger kid's pointed towards her, shutting down the gossiping adults next to him. she froze in her step, unable to hide the fact that she had been listening to their words. "she's always been with fairy tail, you're just mistaken!" maya was taken aback by his strong spirit and passion behind his tone as he stared at them all with bright eyes. she was brought out of her daze when a hand was placed on her shoulder, catching her attention as she peered over to the scarlet haired mage.
"he's right," erza pointed out, referring to the kid. "you've always been here." maya's lips curled into a small smile, nodding her head in agreement as the two began walking together.
after being presented a gift of their guild building being restored back to their original place directly from the mayor of magnolia, the fairy tail members dispersed into their own groups and returned to life as it normally was.
