"I don't know what you mean," He answers anxiously, scratching his head. A low chuckle gets caught in my throat as I try to not draw attention to myself.
Hisoka leans back in his seat, attempting to get a better view of Kuroo. To spoil his plans, I lean back as well, my eyes locked onto his.
"Whatcha looking at sweetheart?" I coo as innocently as I can. Within a blink of an eye, a cool breeze brushes past me, Illumi and Hisoka now hovering over Kuroo, Illumi with his pin and Hisoka with his card both aimed at the poor guy's throat. "Oh, would you two relax, it's not as if they did it,"
I'm not going to lie. I'm intentionally trying to make things messy. And I don't even regret it. I just want to see how Athena's two bodyguards are going to react. Both Athena and Kuroo's face burn bright red as they try to hide the embarrassment creeping in.
"Oh shit, you did," My chuckle becomes a low laugh as my eyes lock onto Eva, a coy smirk lingers on my face, while her eyes widen and her jaw drops. "I win the bet, pay up," I smirk as everyone else looks on in confusion.
"Tetsurō," Dad calls lowly through gritted teeth, the veins in his neck and forehead threatening to burst. I'm beginning to think I'm the one who starts the arguments at family meals. Maybe I'm the problem? Oh well. At least it's free entertainment.
"What was the bet?" Kurapika comments as he sips on a mimosa amused by the events.
"That they would do it before the year ends," Eva sighs begrudgingly as she slides over a $100 bill to me. With a victorious grin plastered on my face, I shove the bill into my bra. Killua looks on in disgust as he covers Alluka's ears, Leorio covering Reya's ears as well. Gon and Roman have steam coming from their ears and the others are quietly invested in the drama.
"You bet on me?" Athena bickers as she hides her face in her hands, unable to look at anyone. Illumi and Hisoka haven't moved even the slightest or even blinked once since they've been hovering over Kuroo.
"You're my blood, it would have been stupid to bet against you," I counter playfully. "Especially considering it wasn't much different for me and Hisoka," As the words leave my mouth, I instantly regret it.
"What did you say?" Dad comments through gritted teeth. Oh wow, the vein in his forehead multiplied. I didn't know it could do that.
"Well this should be interesting," Grandpa comments breezily as he leans back into his chair, mimosa in hand. Kurapika and Leorio follow suit as they watch everything unfold.
"Hisoka. Tetsurō," Dad's voice shakes the room, the bass deep in his voice. Hisoka grabs Kuroo by the collar making a break for the backyard. Dad flashes after them, catching them within a few minutes. They don't even make it to the forest.
Dad catches Hisoka first, slapping him behind the head with a force strong enough to send him face-first into the ground, the rest of his body lying still. I wouldn't be too worried, he's more durable than he looks. Kuroo falls to his knees seemingly either begging for forgiveness or apologising. It's hard to tell which. What's funny is the fact he didn't hold back when smacking Hisoka into the ground, but he holds back with Kuroo. Probably because he knows Hisoka can stand the full force of his attacks.
Although the distance between us is wide, bits and pieces of Dad's scolding can be faintly heard. Hisoka still hasn't moved an inch and Dad's fixated on Kuroo. Illumi sits back down next to Eva glaring at her judgingly. She pays no mind to him as she continues to eat her breakfast.
"Is it always like this around here?" Kurapika asks, concern growing on his face just slightly.
"Pretty much," Both Killua and I answer.
