Did he stay true to his word and make my 'punishment' harsher?

Yes.

Did I learn my lesson?

Fuck no. If my father couldn't get me to behave, what makes him think he can? Especially when his behavior is more questionable than mine...

Since Kuroo and the guys have a variety of businesses to take care of regarding their line of work, Athena and the twins will be back home two days from today. The boys don't like involving them in those matters, which I truly appreciate. However, that leaves Illumi, Eva, Hisoka, and me barely enough time to investigate the castle before they come home.

The reason for the rush is that when the kids do get back, Athena will insist on coming with us, and she will follow us even if told no. Reminds me a lot of someone I know. This way, we can check for any danger before putting her in the field while also getting more familiar with the place for our benefit. So, for the rest of the day, I'm forced to be glued to my office compiling a plan of action for us to follow.

The goal is the less time spent the better, whilst also getting as much information as possible. Roughly estimating, this should be a 2-day job. However, since time works faster there, we only have a day, so it's either we leave as the sun rises, or we leave tonight.

.......

It's too god damned early for this bullshit but I don't have a choice. If only Clown Charming had already gotten dressed, we could already be there by now.

He finally emerges from the closet with his regular white magician outfit clinging and hugging every right part of him, minus his usual face paint. He rarely wears it anymore, and I wonder why. It was always a key element to his outfit, and he hardly ever went out without it. I wonder what changed?

I opted for loose dark grey cargo pants and a plain black fitted t-shirt with some combat boots since it's best for that terrain. Since Illumi and Eva ended up sleeping at her parents' house, Illumi said to go ahead and that he'd call when he was ready.

Some nerve of him. What do I look like? A chauffeur?

"If you're too nervous, love, you could always wait till Athena gets back," his warm, comforting voice calls to me.

"Hm? Why do you say that?" I ask, gazing up into those glowing pools of gold I love so dearly. He takes my hand in his, brings it up to his lips, and gently kisses the back of it. It hits me that my hand is a deep shade of red as if I've been rubbing it against sandpaper. I hadn't noticed until his kiss left a cool sensation on my hand.

"You've been twiddling with your hands aggressively all morning. It's difficult not to notice," His closed eye grins can portray such a wide variety of emotions, and it can be both comforting and terrifying all within the same 10 minutes. But this one, this one is calming.

"Oh,"

I don't want to open this Pandora's box, especially with all the various signs that it could all go wrong. Most of all, I'm scared to lose another close person. Whether or not I know the right thing to do, I don't want to play with lives I hold near and dear to me. No matter what questions I have about Kai and his people.

With a relatively calm mind, I open a portal for us directly to the castle's throne room. It's just as I left it the day we brought back Roman after our encounter with... Corbin? Collin? Conrad? Oh, forget it! The psychotic redhead with all the tattoos. Since then, I don't think we've been back for any other reason.

The castle halls remain as deserted as the day I brought Athena home. It's funny how it feels as if it were just yesterday Hisoka and her were seldom in the same room together. Now, more than likely, they might be having some form of fun together without me. Playing video games, painting or drawing near the pool, or even simply training. They've become extremely fond of each other.
