Part 7 :3
The next morning, the sun once again streamed through the hospital room windows, casting a warm glow over the space. Y/N stirred in her crib, slowly waking up. She rubbed her eyes with her tiny fists and looked around, still drowsy.
Nick and Chris were sitting on the couch, discussing their plans for the day. Matt was dozing in the chair beside Y/N’s crib, his head resting on his hand.
As Y/N woke up fully, she glanced around the room, her eyes landing on Nick first. She gave him a sleepy side eye, her expression clearly communicating, “Why are you so loud this early?”
Nick chuckled, noticing her look. “Good morning to you too, Y/N,” he said, grinning. “Someone’s got an attitude today.”
Y/N then turned her gaze to Chris, who was mid-sentence and oblivious to her scrutiny. She side-eyed him next, her tiny face serious and unimpressed.
Chris caught her look and laughed. “Wow, getting the side eye from you first thing in the morning. What did I do to deserve this?”
Finally, Y/N’s eyes landed on Matt, who was just waking up. She gave him the most pointed side eye of all, as if to say, “And you’re supposed to be keeping them in line?”
Matt rubbed his eyes and saw her expression, breaking into a smile. “Good morning, Y/N. I see you’re already giving everyone the business.”
Y/N didn’t respond, just continued her serious scrutiny of her brothers. It was clear she wasn’t quite ready to start the day and was still in her morning mood.
Their mom entered the room with a warm smile, carrying a tray of breakfast. “Good morning, everyone. How’s our little side-eye queen doing today?”
Matt lifted Y/N out of the crib, cradling her in his arms. “She’s making sure we’re all on our best behavior, aren’t you, Y/N?”
Y/N yawned, leaning her head against Matt’s chest. Her side-eyeing softened as she started to wake up more fully, her mood lightening with the comfort of being held.
Nick reached over and gently ruffled her hair. “You know, Y/N, you’re going to have to give us a break sometime.”
Chris laughed. “Yeah, we’re doing our best here.”
Y/N finally cracked a tiny smile, her stern morning demeanor fading as she felt the love and warmth from her family. She snuggled closer to Matt, letting out a contented sigh.
Their mom set the tray down and started distributing breakfast. “Let’s have some food and get ready for the day. The doctor is supposed to come by later with an update on when we might be able to go home.”
The mention of going home brought a renewed sense of excitement and hope to the room. They ate their breakfast together, chatting and making plans for when they could finally leave the hospital.
As they finished eating, the doctor entered the room with a smile. “Good morning, everyone. I have some good news. If Y/N’s vitals remain stable for the next 24 hours, she can go home tomorrow.”
