Hours went by as I drowned in the pain.

For the first ones I simply stared at the door, waiting for a knock or a turn of the handle. I have no idea why I thought he'd comeback but part of me hoped.

When I finally quit and accept that he isn't coming back, I tried to relive the whole conversation. It still hasn't made any sense why the sudden change from him.

Lane better than anyone knew how important this was for me, hell after I told him how'd ruined my chances with Elite once I didn't think he'd do it again. Perhaps I was foolish to believe him when he said his intentions were good all those years back.

Maybe he actually recognized my sister, knew exactly that he gave her that job instead of me and has been lying all the way since then.

Was that it? Did I seriously fall for his crap after keeping a distance for long. It'd be ironic that when I finally give the guy a chance, he reminds me of all the reasons I hadn't done it before.

Silly little me, thinking my life was finally coming together. That after feeling like nothing worked out for me ever, this was my time to be happy. Funny how that changed in simple minutes.

So I did the only thing that came to my mind. Besides eating the food he had prepared- not because he said so but because I'm both hungry and mad- and called the only person i know would understand.

Obviously, you'd think that FaceTiming your best friend when your world just crumbled and every piece of your heart is shattered on the floor, was the right thing to do.

It'd be, if said best friend wasn't living with my other best friend who's the most dramatic person I know. Not to mention, extremely unhinged which means he will be wording every case scenario possible only causing me to freak out more.

"I'm just saying, he's a man, they usually hate when women are above them. You took his job, that must have hurt his ego," Dev shrugs, his head resting on his hand.

"Fucking idiot!" Rina glares at him, smacking the back of his head, which leads him to gasp and rub the wounded spot.

"Hey! What was that for?!" he winces.

"For being a man, who never know when to shut their stupid mouths," she rolls her eyes turning to face me again, bringing the camera of her phone to her once again, "Ignore him, I'm sure fancy boy has a reasonable explanation."

"You think?" I chew the inside of my mouth.

"The man's obsessed with you, so yeah. Besides, have you ever seen the guy other than happy? This seems all too strange," the blonde looks as confused as me about of all of this.

"Maybe it's better if we just went back to what we were. Or what we weren't. I will keep my distance and we'll just act like this was a momentarily insanity," the sadness in my voice clashes with the indifference in trying to portray.

"But it wasn't, was it Miks? We could all see it, how you both looked at each other. Your feelings aren't something you can just turn off," that was the smartest and most genuine thing I ever heard Devon say.

"I think you should talk to him."

"I tried, he left."
