Him Again (Bakugou Katsuki x Reader)

21. Versus

It was finally time for the last stage of the Festival. 1 v 1 battles.

Everyone looked at the screen in anticipation for the match ups. You got matched up with Tokoyami. The two of you exchanged a smirk, psyched up for the battle. Bakugou was up against Uraraka and she was shivering at the thought.

This was it. Hero agencies from all across Japan were watching. You had to do this.

It was time for the match. You entered the stadium and so did Tokoyami. Midnight yelled "Start" and the two of you went at it.

"Go! Dark Shadow." He yelled, sending the dark shadowy monster towards you. You flew into the air, dodging it easily.

Whenever you got close to him, he would use his quirk as a shield. Your quirk was useless against that kind of physical barrier.

You needed to do something fast. His quirk was stopping your attacks and would get a few hits on you while you had your guard down.

That's when an idea struck you. You ran towards the opposite end on the battlefield, putting distance between you and Tokoyami.

Everyone expected you to launch an all out attack but you just shut your eyes, concentrating.

The clouds seemed to clear up and the sun felt harsher than ever. The audience began wiping sweat off their forehead and sipping their cold drinks but most importantly, Tokoyami's shadow started dissapating.

It became almost half its size and you could easily get past it now. So thats what you did. You avoided its attacks and got to Tokoyami, taking him out with only a few punches, surprising yourself at your physical combat skills.

Thank you, Bakugou. You thought. Tokoyami gave up. You had won the battle.

You went back to the waiting room only to be congratulated by everyone.
"You were amazing there Y/N!"
"How did you think of that type of strategy so quickly under that kind of pressure?"
"Your quirk's so powerful!"

"You're not half bad." Bakugou smirked. He was proud of you. "Your speed needs improvement but you were quite alright out there."

"Were you watching me that intently?" You said.
"Not as intently as you're gonna watch me as I receive the award for first place."
You scoffed. "You wish!"

Just then Midnight announced that Bakugou had to go for his match with Uraraka in sometime. You wished Uraraka luck and she was frightened but looked determined. "I know I can't beat Bakugou right now but I won't go down without a fight!" You smiled at her.

"I don't need luck to win." Bakugou said when you wished him luck. You shook your head.
"I'm saying give it your all. I hope you win."
"I'm obviously going to win. You don't need to hope."
"Don't get so cocky. Uraraka won't go down that easily."
"Tch. Whatever."
"So good luck, Katsu."
He rolled his eyes and walked off.

Bakugou and Uraraka's match was more interesting than you had anticipated. Uraraka was not going down easily.

She kept coming at Bakugou relentlessly. Bakugou would show no mercy and blast her backwards, making the crowds gasp at him.

But Uraraka seemed to have a plan. When you looked up, you saw boulders that Bakugou had blasted floating in the sky. Uraraka was going to crush him. You got worried for a second.

She directed the boulders downwards and charged towards him and was about to touch him but he put both his hands up and let out a huge explosion, knocking her backwards and blowing up the boulders all in one shot, making the whole stadium shake.

Everyone's jaws hung open. He just exercised his hand and shook it off like it was no big deal.

But Uraraka got back up and began running towards Bakugou but passed out. Bakugou had won.

But you felt kind of bad for him. Everyone cheered for Uraraka and seemed to be rooting for her. They were booing at him during the match because he didn't go easy on a girl. Even Present Mic seemed to be against Bakugou. You knew he didn't really care but it was still unfair.

"Katsu!" You called out to him. "Congratulations! You won!"
"Tch. Like I would lose."
"Be humble! You're making people hate you because of that."
"Who cares? I'll beat all their asses. You were the only person rooting for me anyway."
"Katsu! That's not true. I'm sure all the girls in the crowd who find you hot rooted for you."
"Yeah. You'd know about those kind of people."

You blushed and smacked his arm but didnt deny it.

The rest of the matches were predictable. Todoroki, Iida and Mina got through the first round no problem.

Kirishima's match ended in a draw but he ended up getting through.

During Midoriya's match, he seemed to be going up against Shinzo who seemed to have a mind control quirk. He was making Midoriya walk outside but suddenly something had snapped him out of it.

One for all. You smiled. "HAAH? HOW DID THAT LOSER DO THAT?" Bakugou howled. He noticed you smirk. "What? You know what it is, don't you! Tell me! What is it?"

"I have no idea. How would I know?" You lied. "You smiled."
"I was just happy my friend had won."
"Tch. Whatever. You should go run to Deku to congratulate him since y'all are such great friends." He spat.
"You know what? I will!" You shot back, getting up and going to congratulate Midoriya.
