Him Again (Bakugou Katsuki x Reader)

30. Birds of a Feather

That night you crashed into your bed. What a crazy bastard! You thought, feeling foolish and upset at how he had embarrassed you and Tokoyami that day.

Just then, your phone vibrated. Bakugou. You smiled and picked it up.

"Hi."
"I wanna go home."
"Same. Hawks humiliated Tokoyami and I and threw us off his fucking building!"
"It's something alright. I haven't done any training. Best Jeanist is a scam."
"Hawks took us patrolling today. But it was just him doing all the work. I was running around behind him. It was so exhausting."
"Please. All Blue Jeanist has done is give me a fucking haircut." He regretted his as soon as the words left his mouth.
"What? I'm switching to video call."

You laughed hysterically at his hair. It was glued down with hair gel, making him look absolutely ridiculous.

The two of you stayed on video call just talking, ranting about your terrible life choices until you fell asleep on call with him, soon after, exhausted. "Sleep well." He said and cut the call soon after.

He always knew how to make you feel better. You had forgotten all about how exasperated, how miserable, how tired you were just because he had shot you a single phone call.

You woke up the next morning excited to train onlt to be disappointed by Hawks again, when he shoved the two of you off the building.

Once again, the same thing happened. Tokoyami struggled to latch onto anything to slow down the fall while you kept blasting air currents upwards to save yourself.

In the evenings, Hawks took you patrolling around the city, making the two of you run around like idiots agains.

This routine continued for a few days until you snapped.

That night, you and Tokoyami walked onto Hawks' balcony.

"Hey Hawks. Why do we do this? Run around the city, 'patrolling' with you?"
"Gotta catch the perps, baby bird."
"But we can't even keep up with you!"
"That sounds like a you problem."

"What is the point of having us intern with you then?" You asked. "You're not even helping us get better."

Hawks raised his eyebrows. "I'm not helping you get better?" He took a few steps towards you making you jump back. "If I'm not helping you get better, then how can you do this?"

He raised his arm and pushed you, straight off the balcony again. You just rolled your eyes as you began falling. You looked around.

The city looked beautiful from that height. The moon looked like it was illuminating light in the darkness of the night. 

Halfway down the building, you realised you should probably begin shielding yourself from the fall. But when you summoned air currents, your fall stopped right away. You were floating in the sky.

You looked around shocked. You weren't really floating but holding yourself up with your quirk but you felt like you were. It took little to absolutely no effort.

You swiftly flew upwards and stood on the ledge next to Hawks. "There we go little fledgling. It's been three seconds. Are you tired from your endeavours?"

"I'm- no, actually-" your voice seemed to die out in your throat.

He then walked towards Tokoyami, picking him up and flying into the fly as you watched. You stared up at them.

He had not only helped you gain control over your quirk but he had also raised your stamina and speed. You realised what he meant. You had it in you. You were able to push Shigaraki onto the ground with your quirk but you weren't able to harness it at will.

Throwing you off buildings and making you run around the city was his way of training you and it was working.

You felt stupid for ever doubting the number 3 hero.

The next day onwards, Hawks stopped shoving you off the buildings and took you straight for patrolling. 

"Hawks?"
"What's up, bird?"
"Why wasn't I able to do it earlier? Fly?"
"Ha ha. The two of you fledglings were too stupid to realise that flying is not to be done in a group. You have to go solo."

That day you patrolled around the city with Hawks in the air, helping him catch villains. Soon, Tokoyami joined you too after a while, Dark Shadow had turned into wings, making Tokoyami take off.

Picking Hawks seemed to be a great choice for you and Tokoyami.

That night you video called Katsuki again. His ridiculous hair never ceased to crack you up. You excitedly told him about how you could fly now and how Hawks was right the whole time.

"Tch. Best Jeanist is still giving me haircuts." He said. You felt really bad for him but hearing about his internship was absolutely hilarious. Despite all the complaining he was doing, you could tell he had grown to like the number 4 hero.

He was ranting to you about his day when he absentmindedly walked into the bathroom. He took off his shirt and began washing his face. "K-Katsu! What're you doing?"

He realised what he had done and his eyes widened. But the familiar cocky expression took over his face.

"What? You shy?"
"N-no!"
"Can't handle that I'm shirtless?"
"I didn't say that. I'm fine with it. Doesn't matter to me." You said and walked out of the frame. You changed into your pyjamas and a tank top and walked back into frame.

"You're wearing the necklace i bought you."
"Oh? So you admit you bought it for me?"
"N-no it's just for safekeeping."
"You like me, Katsu? Got a tiny crush or something?"

He blushed and began bickering with you. The two of you talked more into the night and fell asleep
