65. Fear

You weren't sure what to do. You were with Katsuki for a second, making your way out and the next, the darkness seemed to have engulfed you. The next thing you knew, Katuski wasn't next to you anymore and Stupor was strangling your body. You were shocked. You didn't know how to react. It was really him....

You had dreamt about this moment so many times. You had wished you could see him just one more time. You wouldn't let him go. You thought you were surely going to make him pay. But now.... you were utterly powerless against him. You tried to fight back but all you could think about was everything that happened at the Shie Hassaikai hideout. You couldn't move an inch. You couldn't fight back.

You glanced over at Katuski. There seemed to be a huge monster like.... sludge? You weren't even sure what was happening.

Katsuki lunged at the villain, throwing an explosion its way but his attacks seemed to be going through it somehow. Katsuki tried again but the same thing happened and this time the sludge struck back, engulfing Katuski up.

Katsuki was panicking. The memories of the sludge incident were rushing back. He was freaking out. The sludge began to engulf his face. He felt like a child again. So hopeless, so out of control.

He struggled and tried to break free but it was useless. He almost wanted to just give up and let it consume him. He couldn't breathe. It was all around him now. He started to lose consciousness and his vision began to blur....but-

He caught a glimpse of you. Stupor's hand wrapped around your neck as he started chocking you. Something snapped inside Katsuki. "STOP IT, VILLAIN!" He yelled and began attacking the sludge, trying to break free. It was still of no use but he wasn't ready to give up now.

Think of something, Katuski! He chided himself. But how could he do something when he couldn't even touch the monster? How could he possibly attack something that couldn't be touch-

His eyes grew wide. A random memory popped into his head. The park. The boy from the park had looked exactly like Stupor. Maybe it was....

Without wasting another second, he raised his hand upwards and launched a large explosion into the air. Just as he had expected, he had broken free and fallen straight down onto the ground. The sludge had disappeared.

Stupor yelled in pain and let go of you, putting his hands up in defense, almost shielding himself from the explosion. But it wasn't the explosion he was so afraid of. It was the light. That was Stupor's weakness. As long as there was light, he couldn't harm you.

Katsuki scrambled to your side. You were clutching your neck and coughing, grateful to be able to breathe again. "Y/N! Fuck! Are you okay?"

You nodded. "I'm fine....." You said but you were in shock. How had Katuski been able to figure it out so quickly? "That was crazy...!" You said. If it hadn't been for his quick thinking, you didnt know what would have happened to you...

"Let's go! Quickly!" He said and put his arm around you to help you up. But you seemed a little reluctant. "B-But-" You glanced at Stupor who was lying on the ground, squirming, clutching his head.

"We've got no time! We can't take him on right now! Let's go!" Katuski tried to convince you.

You hated that you had to leave without Nico. You wanted to see him pay for everything he had done. He had ruined your life. You didn't want to just leave. But you knew you had no choice. The only reason Katsuki was able to immobilize Stupor for this long was because he had caught him off guard. If you let him recover and fought now, you would stand no chance.

You let Katsuki help you to your feet as you made your escape. You were slowing him down quite a bit though. If Stupor woke up anytime soon, you would be dead meat.

Relief began filling your chest. You had your regrets about not being able to do anything about Stupor but Katsuki had surely stood his ground against him. You could almost see the camp.... You were so glad you and Katsuki were mostly unharmed. It was all going to be.....-

Your heart froze. You felt the warmth of Katsuki's hand fade from your shoulder. A thud sounded next to you where Katsuki had been running a second ago. You had heard a gunshot seconds ago.

You stopped. "KATSUKI!" You screamed. No. No no no. This could not be happening. Katsuki was on the ground. Blood was actively spreading all over his chest, dampening his hero costume.

You looked back. It was the machete villain. You had completely forgotten about him. He was lying on the ground behind you, cackling with a bloody mouth with a shotgun in his hand. And behind him... Was Stupor, with an evil grin spreading across his face.

"Fuck!" Katsuki croaked. You crouched down and cupped his face. "NO!" You began sobbing. "Y-...Y/N...." He clutched his chest. "Fuck- It-"

"No. No. Nonono. Shh don't talk. You're gonna be fine! We're getting out of here!" You began putting his arm around your neck to hoist him up. With Stupor on your tail, there was no time to waste. But he howled in pain.
"No... I can't...! We won't make it out of.... this mountain in time...."
"DON'T SAY THAT!" You sobbed. But he was right. Without Hawks, you would never be able to get him to some kind of hospital with your unreliable quirk.

"It's okay.... Go... Run... Take care o-of....yourself......I love you...." He rasped. He flashed you a rare smile- the one you only saw when he was alone with you. His vision was blurring. His ears rang but he didn't care. He didn't know if he was going to survive. But as long as you got out of there safely, it was fine even if he didn't make it out alive. His smile slowly faded and everything went black.

"NO! NO NO!" You shrieked. You were sobbing hysterically now. "Wake up...." you cried helplessly as you cradled Katsuki's lifeless head in your arms. You hugged his frame desperately but all it did was soak your body in his blood. "Please.....!" But it was useless. His heartbeat was fading....
