28. Fireworks

You sat on the ladder of the slide at the park, recalling how you and Bakugou would play there as kids. It's where you met each other. It was empty now. You wondered why. The rumours. You snickered at the memory.

Bakugou was leaning against the rod of the swing, next to you. He was looking up at the sky. The golden sun rays were lighting up his ruby eyes. His hair blew in the wind. He looked so perfect.

"Katsu."
"Hmm?"
"Do you really think I should go out with Todoroki?" You were joking, of course. You just wanted to make him jealous.

He took a step towards you and placed his hand on either arm of the ladder, trapping you between his arms.

"Do it. I dare you." He breathed. His face was close to yours. His eyes were hyper focused on your lips which were only a few inches away. "You'll just have to watch him get blown into smithereens if you do, though."

"And why do you care if i go out with him or not?" You teased.
"...." He was speechless. He didn't know how to respond. What was he supposed to say? That he was attracted to you? That the thought of you being with any guy other than him made him want to smash their heads into the wall?

So he just leaned in, closing the gap between the two of you, and pressed his lips against yours.

You kissed him back right away. Fireworks began going off in your mind as he pushed his body against yours.

Bakugou's mind was short circuiting. A million thoughts were running through his mind before but it seemed to go blank now. All he could focus on now was how your soft lips were moving against his and how your breathing was gettjng faster by the second. He smirked cockily at the effect he had on you.

You wrapped your arms around his neck and he hoised you off the ladder, pinning you against it. His hand traveled to your lower back and wrapped around it. He pressed his chest against yours and deepened the kiss.

You gasped in his mouth and he slipped his tongue in and began exploring your mouth. Your fingers intertwined within his hair, tugging on it gently, driving him crazy.

He pulled away after a while and rested his head in the crook of your neck. You were both panting, breathless. He pulled you close and you ran your fingers through his hair.

"You're right. I think I've got a crush on you." You said, making him chuckle.

Later that evening, the two of you went into the heart of the city. On your way there, you passed a jewellery store. Something caught your eye. A necklace. It was gorgeous. A blue diamond hung from the centre and the intricate design on the chain made you almost want to buy it for yourself but...

You looked at the price tag. You almost choked a laugh. Of course you couldn't afford it, but glances were free.

When you got there, you saw that there were stalls set up everywhere. You had almost forgotten. The hanabi festival was on that day.

You and Bakugou walked through the streets. "It's so pretty!" You said, looking at how the lights beautifully lit up at each stall.

Something caught your eye just then. Your face lit up. "Wanna get some?" Bakugou asked.

The two of you walked to sit down at a quiet place near the benches with a cup of chocolate ice cream in your hands.

With newfound courage you grabbed his hand, interlocking your fingers in his. He looked at you and you blushed, hard. "After what we just did, holding hands makes you blush?" He smirked, earning himself a smack on the arm.

Just then, he let go of your hand quickly, moving away. You looked up. Fuck. Kirishima, Sero, Kaminari and Mina were there. Had they seen you?

You mentally cursed yourself. Mina had invited you and you told her you'd be there. Bakugou pulled you behind a stall. "What now?" He whispered. "That fucker Kirishima had invited me."

"That's good. Mina invited me as well. We're neighbours. It wouldn't be suspicious if we arrived together." You replied.
"Yeah. You're right."
"Don't act suspicious. Just be normal, okay?"

The two of you walked up to the group and joined them. "Y/N! I was just about to call y- Woah! Bakugou? I didn't expect you to show up!" Mina said when she saw you.

"Hello." Bakugou waved robotically, trying to smile but it looked down right terrifying. You burst out laughing when you realised he was just trying to do what you told him and be normal.

"A-are you okay, Bakugou?" Sero asked, concerned.
"I am doing well." He said, smiling horrifyingly, making everyone double over in laughter.

You walked around with the group, visiting all the stalls. You snickered at Kaminari as he yelled out in pain, almost breathing fire when his and Bakugou's plates got switched by accident. Bakugou spat out the food right away too, deeming it unworthy to be eaten by him, calling it tasteless.

A while later, the hanabi festival began. You and the group looked up into the sky as the fireworks began going off. "Woah... It's so pretty!" You said.
"Have you never seen fireworks before, dumbass?"
"No..."
He just shook his head.

Your eyes twinkled at the sight in the sky as you stared in awe. It was absolutely gorgeous. It was a sight that could not be missed. But Bakugou missed it. He wasn't looking at the sky. His eyes were fixed on you.
