Days ago...
"Do you think you like her?" I smiled, teasing Chase.
"Like? I was just talking to her." He raised his brows.
I just made a face as we entered the house.
The sun was setting, and I wanted to go to bed with my princess already.
This day was happily exhausting. I didn't notice that lunch would be extended to the point that I wanted to eat again because of how long that conversation was.
I was just walking upstairs when I heard some noises from the middle room.
My brows furrowed because since we got here, we had not dared sneak into that room, knowing that we didn't need it.
"You're zoning out, princess." I hummed as I hugged her side.
"Hmm?" Balik niya sa akin.
Mukhang malalim na naman ang iniisip niya, I just hope that her adoptive mother figure isn't bothering her anymore.
"What are you thinking?" I asked as I snuggled her neck.
My brows furrowed when I smelled something that I was not familiar with.
"Do you want to take a bath before eating? To feel fresh, sabayan kita." I did my best to sound as nice as possible.
Mabango naman siya, pero something was off about her scent.
She usually smelled like a blooming garden; her presence was enveloped in a delicate fragrance of fresh roses and jasmine.
The scent was both intoxicating and soothing, but for some reason, she smelled differently.
It was something that her scent was a fierce, exhilarating blend that commanded attention. It was a heady mix of smoky spices, leather, and a sharp, almost electric undertone of cedar and musk.
"Okay lang, I'm not sweaty naman." She smiled as she caressed my face. "Let's go, I'm hungry."
I shrugged my thoughts, baka malalim lang ang iniisip niya.
We don't want my princess to move around the house, even though she wants to.
She deserved more than just princess treatment after everything she had endured; she was worthy of a sanctuary of healing, a refuge where every moment was dedicated to her comfort and recovery, transcending any ordinary gestures of care.
