"Hey."
"Yeah?"
"Do you ever wonder why we're here?"
"I don't know man...Why are we here? It's one of life's great mysteries...Maybe we're just cosmic coincidence's biproduct...maybe there's a god, watching us, with a plan or something...I don't know man, but it keeps me up at night."
"No, I mean, why the fuck are we here, in a box canyon that is on some random planet, far from anything strategic, tactical or even remotely interesting. I looked this place up, resources are depleted, the system has just this planet, a moon, and the star, and the closest thing to this place is interesting is 5 lightyears away." Shepard shouted, annoyed at the weird philosophical answer that Liara had given at the very logical question.
"Oh....Ummmm, because the enemy set up a base here." Liara answered.
"Yeah, they set it up there, because we set one up here. Fuck....can we just stand in some shade, or better yet, in the Base, where there is AC." Fedorian complained.
"Yeah, it's hot out and my I got sweat in some awkward locations pooling." the asari answered.
The pair walked from the roof of the base, down a set of ramps and into the base. Spying on them from a cliff face path, another conversation was happening.
"What are they doing?" Garrus asked.
"What?" Shepard asked confused, lowering the sniper rifle to look at the turian.
"I said what are they doing now?"
"I am so fucking sick of that dumb question. They were talking. Just like the last time you asked, they were talking, and probably when you ask next time, they will be- where the fuck did they go?" John Shepard asked as he looked back through the scope.
"I don't know, I can't see shit without a sniper rifle." Garrus grumbled
John sighed, annoyed.
"Last time you had the sniper rifle, you shot Tali in the ass...that...that doesn't feel right." John said, before there was a very short earthquake.
"Ok, we should probably get off this cliff." Garrus suggested.
"Yeah. Back to base." Shepard stated, as they ran back along the cliff.
The pair would run along the cliff until they reached their base on the far end of the box canyon, to meet their teammate, Tali, who was in the stock-standard blue armor.
"Hey, I was able to intercept one of the Red's command message. They got a robot kit delivered. I delivered that info to Command and they are going to be sending something to even the power difference." Tali explained.
"Great, more rookies." Shepard rolled his eyes.
"Who knows, maybe it might be something better than the scout jeep." Garrus joked.
Back across the box canyon, Fedorian, Liara, and the Sargant named....Sarge, were in an open room, with a cloth covering something.
"Well Ladies, I am proud to introduce you to our newest member of our team." Sarge said, as he pulled the tarp off the thing, and showed a Krogan in full armor.
"A krogan? We got a krogan?" Liara and Fedorian asked.
"What? No. This is the latest in blue butt kicking technology, meet W.r.e.x." Sarge said, pressing a button and the robotic Krogan lifted it's head, looking at the pair of soldiers.
"Hej, jag är Wrex"
"What? Sarge, I think that thing is busted." Liara said.
"Dagnabbit. I thought I fixed that."
