I sighed and brushed my fingers through his hair. His face looked peaceful as he slept but I knew that the pain and turmoil that nightmare had caused him still lingered. Anurag tightened his grip around me and pulled me closer.

When he did not text me back for a long time, I worried that the worst had happened. I called Aarav to ask if everything was okay. I felt relieved when he told me that the two of them had won the qualifying matches and were entering the Olympics. I asked him where Anurag was and he said that Anurag wasn't feeling good.

Aarav did not go into the details but he did give me the gist. He told me about how the other player had goaded Anurag and pushed him to the brink. Aarav mentioned that Anurag was taking a nap. I decided to wait for some time but something did not feel right after an hour.

I called Aarav and asked him if Anurag had called him but Aarav said that he was napping so he had not heard from him in the past couple of hours. He assured me that everything was fine and Anurag just needed some space but I was not convinced.

I went to Anurag's flat and rang the bell thrice when he didn't open I knocked on his door several times. I was beginning to panic.

A few minutes later I was knocking on Aarav's door. He opened the door and glared at me. "What is it Red?" Aarav asked and glared at me.

"I'm sorry but do you have extra keys to Anurag's flat I want to make sure he's okay." Aarav sighed and yawned.

"Red he is okay. I promise he will call you once he's awake and wants to talk." Aarav said but I shook my head and bit my lips anxiously.

"I know that but please I want to go see him. If he's sleeping I won't disturb him. I'll leave." Aarav sighed and walked inside to pass me the keys. He gave them to me and nodded.

"Let me know he's doing fine too I called him a few minutes back but he did not answer." I nodded and smiled at him.

"I will call you. Thank you, Aarav!" He smiled hesitantly. I raised my brows and waited for him to say something.

"Priyanka there are certain things that we have a dark past. I know Anurag appears to be all strong and poised but he is constantly battling." I sighed and nodded. I knew that he was always fighting his internal demons.

"Please give him some time, don't give up on him. He will open up." I nodded slowly and my eyes turned misty. I had never seen Aarav so emotional.

"I will Aarav I'm not going anywhere." He smiled and shut the door before bidding goodbye.

The moment I unlocked Anurag's door I heard loud cries coming from the bedroom. I locked the front door and ran towards his room. I watched as Anurag cried begging someone to not hurt him. The moment I woke him up his eyes were welled with tears and he was shaking.

I sighed and closed my eyes for a moment. I never want to see those tears in his eyes again. I brushed my thumb across his cheek my finger prickled slightly because of the light stubble.

I kissed his forehead again and brushed my fingers in his hair. My eyes began drooping, and I decided to rest them only for a moment but the warmth of Anurag engulfed me into a peaceful slumber.
