My opinion on Khaos Reigns

⚠️SPOILERS FOR THE EXPANDED STORY⚠️

What's my opinion? It is MID! Yeah there are some cool parts to the story but in general the story sucked. I feel like in general Mk Aftermath was wayyyy better than Khaos Reigns, I feel like the entire thing was kinda pulled together last minute which is quite sad. They didn't give a proper introduction to most of the characters which what I personally saw.

Characters:

Sektor - She was decent but definitely not my favorite. I feel like most of her character was just "Hey I am the leader listen to me." And I really felt that part of the character when she was on the mission to save Geras. I also don't like her relationship with Bi Han, that just seemed like they threw it in there for flavor. The flavor was over salted.

Cyrax - She might be my favorite DLC character, but in general she was also very mid. She was enjoyable to see and I especially love hearing her talk, but she just seemed like she was missing something. The way she 'saved Kuai Liang's life' from a SURVIVAL FALL. But glad she got her happy ending

Noob Saibot - Listen, I don't like Bi Han in any of the timelines/games. But noob has definitely been a character I quite like, especially his voice. In this story mode they just gave him his old job back, BEING A JOBBER! When is he gonna be his own independent man?! Also, I don't even like Bi Han in this game, this Sub Zero lowkey gets on my nerves, like he's edgy for the sake of being edgy, good looks ain't gonna cover up that terrible writing. I was so sad when Noob became another Jobber. But I do feel bad for him in the end, Liu Kang really just locked him away and that made me quite sad won't lie. But that's the only sympathy this Bi Han will ever get from me.

Titan Havik - ...What the hell was this guy?! They just threw him in here because of Mileena's Invasions season skins being roasted. I firmly believe that season was a mistake and was supposed to be Haviks. But this Titan Havik was so... funny?! Like nothing about him was intimidating like Titan Shang Tsung

Empress Tanya - Now, as an avid Taleena shipper, I actually really love Empress Tanya and Emperor Rain. Their dynamic was so sweet. I was really happy that Tanya had gotten the spot light she deserved and wasn't thrown in the corner like she always is. That scene with her and Orin literally took up most of the budget imo. But she was genuinely the best part of this story, she was gorgeous and a girlboss

Emperor Rain - Was an absolute gorgeous man. And the most perfect man in existence. Very jealous of Empress Tanya, she lucky asf. But the way he died was dumb, he died Peter Strahm style (My saw fans will get it)

WW2 Johnny - NRS had to find a way for their biggest money making character to make it into the story. WW2 Johnny was actually also quite enjoyable on the screen. And the SONYA BLADE REFRENCE?!

The story

The story was so dumb. I feel like it was very rushed and didn't have the flare and pizzazz the Mk1 story mode had. I used to give MK11 a LOT of shit, but compared to this thing? Mk11 has a lot more to offer. Aftermath was also quite mid, but it had an actual story, a story that was actually quite enjoyable and quite attention grabbing too. This expansion didn't have that, and it's not just because of the characters. I also felt that it was too short, it definitely needed a longer time period because there were a lot of scenes I felt could have been explored further, and a bunch of characters that could have been explored further.

When I saw that Takeda and Kenshi were Havik's right hand men, I didn't even recognize Takeda 💀. But one thing I will credit is that Kenshi and Takeda are still father and son. The fact Havik's crowd was just a bunch of different versions of him. THEY KILLED OFF DECEPTION LI MEI FOR WHAT?!?! And honestly Empress Li Mei and Emperor Reiko were interesting, kinda wanna know their beef with Tanya and Rain. As much as I hate he fact that Li Mei and Reiko are married, they were quite tasteful, their designs also slapped. But Kitana and Mileena's designs in the dragon room!? They look so ugly 😭. I see some people liking it when I'm stuck there hating it.

I also felt that the story was just a bunch of unnecessary fights. Like I understand it's a fighter game, but there was more fighting gameplay than there was story. Even the Mk1 story had a better balance, the balance in that story mode was actually perfect in my eyes. This one? They kinda just wanted you to fight for the sake of fighting. I also wish they gave Outworld more screen time, the section of Sektor and Khameleon was not that, it was just a character that never used to talk now talking and Sektor. Guys I really don't like Sektor. Except when her helmet is off, she has a beautiful character design.

Finally, what do I think about gender bending Sektor and Cyrax? I think it's fine. I personally don't mind the new change. But what I truly didn't like about either of these characters was the backstory change. Both Sektor and Cyrax were victims of the Cyber Initiative, they were forced to become androids and become part of a new army against their will. These two have a suit they can take off and on. I like the gender bend, just not the backstory change.

*Alright that was my rant, I really didn't like this expansion, there was, in my opinion, a lot more the developers could have done. Part of me thinks this script was written by AI 💀 Also, I'm now adding fem Sektor and fem Cyrax to this book. I don't like Sektor as much as Cyrax in terms of character, but I definitely will still write for Sektor. Sorry you guys had to hear my rant, I wanted some type of audience to hear my opinion.*
