My whole body starts to tremble the moment I realize who's standing in front of me. My legs feel weak, and it's like the air has been sucked out of my lungs. I can barely breathe, my heart pounding so hard I can hear it in my ears.
This can't be real. He's not supposed to be here.
"H-how are you here right now?" I stammer, my voice barely more than a whisper as I stare at him, my hands shaking uncontrollably.
Tre's lips curl into that cruel, familiar smirk, the one I'd tried so hard to forget. He takes a step closer, the distance between us shrinking until I can feel the heat radiating off his body.
"That's not important, baby girl," he says smoothly, his voice low and taunting, like he's enjoying every second of my fear.
Before I can take a step back, he reaches out, his hands sliding down my arm, feeling up on me like he used to. It's like every touch burns through my skin, making my breath hitch.
He looks down at my stomach, his smirk deepening. "So, you're pregnant now, huh?" he murmurs, like he's savoring the words. "I always wanted you to be my babymama. You know that, right?"
I flinch as he leans in, pressing his lips to the side of my neck, planting a slow, possessive kiss there. His breath is warm against my skin, but it makes my whole body go cold.
I pull away instinctively, trying to create space between us, but it only makes him angrier. His hand shoots up, gripping my chin tightly, forcing me to look him in the eyes.
His grip is rough, and I wince as he tilts my head up, his fingers digging into my skin.
A low chuckle rumbles from his chest as he stares down at me, his smile twisted.
"You scared?" he asks, his lips brushing against mine before he presses a hard, unwanted kiss against them.
His grip tightens painfully, his fingers digging deeper into my jaw until I can feel the pressure in my bones. Tears spill from my eyes, streaming down my face as I try to keep from sobbing.
He shakes his head slowly, a mocking edge to his voice. "You know I always hated when you didn't respond, mama," he says, his tone turning dark. "You're not forgetting the rules, are you?"
I swallow hard, my body shaking uncontrollably, and I finally manage to force out the word he wants to hear, my voice barely more than a broken whisper.
"Y-yes," I choke out, the word scraping painfully against my throat as fresh tears blur my vision.
He smiles wider, like he's satisfied, and for a moment, all I can feel is the crushing weight of his presence, the darkness of all those memories flooding back, trapping me in place.
