Onika Maraj Bey's Home
We were all laying in bed together. Blue was cuddled up against me, scrolling on her phone, while Bey sat up at the end, massaging my feet. Her hands worked out the knots, and I let out a little sigh, feeling the tension leave my body.
Blue glanced up, eyes darting between the two of us.
"Can you do mine next?" she asked with a grin.
Beyoncé chuckled, glancing up at her. "Ain't nothing wrong with your feet."
Blue rolled her eyes dramatically. "Wow, your own daughter..."
I laughed softly, shaking my head. "You're a mess."
Blue went quiet for a second, shifting her position a little closer to me. I could feel the change in her energy, something more serious taking over.
She took a breath, her voice soft. "Can I tell you both something?"
Bey and I both looked at each other, then back at Blue.
"Of course, baby," we said in unison, our tones gentle.
She hesitated, biting her lip, her hands fidgeting a little. "I'm scared," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper.
Beyoncé's hand stilled on my foot, her attention fully on Blue now. "Scared of what, Blue?"
Blue swallowed hard, looking down at her phone like she was searching for the right words. "I finally spoke today in therapy," she began, her voice shaky, "and I told him I was afraid of my brothers coming and something happening to them."
My heart squeezed, and I could see the concern flash across Bey's face. I wrapped my arm tighter around Blue, pulling her closer to me. I kissed the top of her head, feeling how tense she was against me.
"Nothing's gonna happen to them, Blue," I said softly, my voice trying to soothe the fear I knew she was carrying.
Beyoncé reached over, placing a comforting hand on Blue's knee. "They're gonna be okay. We're all here, making sure of that. They've got us, and we've got you."
Blue looked up at us, her eyes watery, like she wasn't sure if she could believe it. But I could see a little of that tension in her shoulders start to ease.
I held her tighter, wanting her to feel how much we meant every word. Bey's touch on her knee was steady, grounding, like a silent promise that we would protect them, protect her.
"They're safe, and so are you, Blue. We won't let anything happen to them, or to you," I added, my voice firm, and I meant it with everything in me.
Blue looked at us, a small, hopeful smile tugging at her lips, and I kissed her forehead again.
