Beyonce Knowles Manhattan Hospital
November 1
I held the phone to my ear, pacing as I waited for Solange to pick up. My heart was pounding, and I didn't realize I was holding my breath until I heard her voice on the other end.
"What happened?" I asked quickly, my voice tight.
"They took her to the hospital. She was in and out of consciousness," Solange replied, her voice low but steady.
There was a pause, and I felt a weight settle over me.
"And what about him?" I asked, my jaw clenched, fear and rage swirling inside me.
"He wasn't there," Solange said, frustration evident. "He must've gone out the back door. Trust me, I looked for that motherfucker."
I closed my eyes, gripping my keys so hard they dug into my palm. "What hospital?" I asked, already moving toward the door.
Solange gave me the name, and we quickly hung up. As I reached for the door, I heard a soft voice behind me.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
I turned to see Blue, her eyes wide with worry. I swallowed the lump in my throat, forcing myself to stay calm for her sake.
"Nicki's in the hospital," I said, my voice breaking slightly. I watched her face shift from concern to shock, tears welling up in her eyes.
"What?" she whispered, and before I could say anything else, she started crying.
I moved toward her, pulling her into a hug. But she pushed me away, her face twisted in determination.
"I gotta go," she said urgently, wiping her face.
"Baby, you need to stay here," I tried to reason, my voice gentle. "Mama is going to come-"
"Mama, please," Blue cut me off, her voice pleading, her tears falling freely now.
"Listen to me," I said, my voice firm but soft. "I don't want you around this. I'm about to work, and Nicki's boyfriend... he's a very bad guy. This isn't something you need to be involved in."
Blue's eyes were filled with tears, but I could see the determination in her face.
"I don't care," she said, her voice trembling. "I just want to be with her, Mama. Please."
I sighed, my heart breaking as I looked at her. I didn't want to put her in danger, but I knew there was no stopping her now.
She needed to be there. We both did.
"Alright," I finally said, my voice heavy with worry. "Come on."
