It's been two days since they took us, and we've been stuck here, waiting... for what, I don't know. Saying I was scared doesn't even cover it. They threw us in this room and just left us here, like we're nothing.

No food, no answers, nothing. Just one water bottle they tossed in like it was supposed to last. We've been rationing it, barely taking sips, trying to stretch it out.

The room is freezing and pitch dark. The only time there's any light is when someone decides to come in. And even then, it's just for a second.

He'll walk in, look around, and then leave without a word. I have no idea what he's thinking or why he even bothers.

The one man I expected to see-the one I gave the money to, the one who started all this-I haven't seen him. I know he's behind this, but it's only been his men showing up.

I sit here, hugging my knees, and I can't stop thinking about her. I miss my mama so much it hurts. She's gotta be losing her mind not knowing where I am.

We've been through so much together, and I'd give anything to be back in her arms right now. She's my rock, you know? The one I run to when things get tough. I need her.

Then mom-she's probably holding it together for Mama's sake, trying to be strong even though I know she's breaking inside, too. And I think about my little brothers and Aunt Solange doing everything she can to find me.

The tears just start falling, and my breathing gets all messed up. I try to stop, but I can't. My hands are shaking as I wipe my eyes, but it doesn't do any good.

Ming glances over, usually so cold and distant, but right now, she's got this soft look.

"Blue... you're gonna get dehydrated if you keep crying," she says, moving a little closer.

"Come here," she says.

I don't even think about it; I just lean into her. She wraps her arms around me, holding me tight, and for a second, it feels like I'm home.

"You remind me of my mom" I said, and we laughed.

"Ew i'm not old"

"She's not e-either... Ming i'm so cold" I said shivering, it was so cold and empty in this room they have us in.

"Just stay under me, we have to keep each other warm"

"Okay"

Ming shifts beside me, her jaw tight. "Blue, we've got to get out of here."

I look at her, wiping my eyes with my sleeve. "How? Do you have a plan?"

She hesitates, glancing around the dim room, her mind racing. "Okay... maybe we run the next time they leave the door unlocked?"
