After Nicki sent me that screenshot of her father texting her, I forwarded it immediately to my team. They jumped on it right away-determined to track him down and make sure he didn't come near her again.

Things at the office weren't too bad since I officially came back to work, but now that Robert was trying to ease his way back in, we had to stay vigilant.

Still, I wasn't going to worry about that tonight. Tonight was all about Onika, making sure she had a great evening without any interruptions or stress.

I curled the last piece of my hair, turning toward Blue, who was sitting in my room with Halle and the twins.

"You girls sure you can handle it?" I asked, feeling a bit anxious about leaving them with the boys, even if it was just for a short while.

Blue and Halle had insisted they could watch the boys until Lauren came to pick them up. Lauren wasn't planning to stay long at dinner, so she'd be able to swing by and take them off their hands.

I appreciated her so much for always being there when we needed her, but part of me was still unsure about leaving the kids with Blue and Halle, especially with the twins being so young.

"Ms. Bey, we got it. Plus, I was almost pregnant, so I guess I have maternal instincts," Halle said, her voice a little too casual.

Blue smacked her arm, but I dropped my curling iron and immediately stepped into the room. "I'm sorry, what did you just say?" I asked, eyes narrowing in disbelief.

"Uh, nothing," Halle quickly said, avoiding my gaze.

I glanced at Blue, who turned away, laughing under her breath, clearly enjoying my reaction.

"Halle," I said, my voice more serious now. "You were almost pregnant? What do you mean by that?"

She threw her hands up defensively. "I'm not, Ms. Bey. It was a mistake, and I'm not going to do that again. I promise." Her voice wavered just enough for me to know she was sincere, but it still caught me off guard.

I shook my head, trying to process that information before deciding to let it go for now. I didn't have time to dive into that situation tonight. I went back into the bathroom to finish my hair, mentally filing that conversation away for later.

"Mom, we got it," Blue said confidently from the other room. "I know how to handle them, and Halle's here to give me extra help. The boys probably just need one more bottle, and they'll be asleep for the night."

I sighed, finally giving in. "Okay, but if anything happens, or if you're not sure about something, call me. I mean it."

"We will," Blue assured me, and I nodded, feeling a little more at ease. They might be young, but they had good hearts-and I knew they'd call if anything went wrong.
